The Book of Mysteries: Hidden Keys or Hype?

Can you judge a book by its cover? If the statements made by any Bible teacher are to be biblical, than perhaps we ought to be Bereans to examine said cover. The often-controversial Rabbi Jonathan Cahn has published a new book titled, The Book of Mysteries, that comes out in a few weeks, and already there are three rather interesting declarations we are going to examine.

The author, Jonathan Cahn, wrote The Harbinger and The Mystery of the Shemitah. Additionally, Cahn has given himself the title of Prophet, claiming direct, extrabiblical revelation from God for the Church, as his biography states: “JONATHAN CAHN is known throughout the world as a prophetic voice for this generation and for the opening up of the deep mysteries and treasures of God.” Source

This statement is one of the hallmarks of the New Apostolic Reformation, the fastest-growing counterfeit movement infecting the visible church today.

First, the book. It’s called The Book of Mysteries, and it is being sold as a downloadable pre-order digital document from Charisma House before it hits the shelves of Walmart, Amazon, Barns & Noble and other retailers. It is also being promoted as a daily devotional reading plan, with 365 devotions in all:

The Book of Mysteries opens up with a traveler and his encounter with a man known only as “the teacher.” The teacher takes him an on odyssey through desert mountains, valleys, gardens and plains, encounters with nomadic tent dwellers, caverns and ancient ruins, chambers of scrolls and vessels, and more. The reader is taken along to partake in the journey and in all the teachings and revelations. The traveler keeps a journal in which he writes down each of the mysteries given to him by the teacher in his one-year odyssey—365 different mysteries—one for each day of the year. Thus, on top of everything else, The Book of Mysteries is also a daily devotional unlike any other. And each mystery contains a special mission for each day of the year, a mission that takes the revelation and applies it to reality for a life-changing journey.

So, it’s fiction, but we are to read it as a daily one-year “devotional.” The question is, to whom and what are we devoting our time to each day? Ought we not be having devotionals to God through the daily reading of Scripture? If you will recall from his interviews on The Harbinger, Cahn said he originally wanted to present the book as nonfiction, but his publisher convinced him that it would do better as a fictional work.

Here is how Cahn is promoting The Book of Mysteries on his website:

Statement 1

“Imagine if you discovered a treasure chest in which were hidden ancient mysteries, revelations from heaven, secrets of the ages, the answers to man’s most enduring, age-old questions, and the hidden keys that can transform your life to joy, success, and blessing…This is The Book of Mysteries.”

Like The Harbinger’s book cover, this statement promises to provide “hidden keys” to unlock secret revelations from heaven. The Bible makes no such promises, but instead lays it all out on the table as the light of truth. The Bible delivers the breathed-out Word of God that very clearly describes our depravity, separation from God, His promise of a Savior, Christ’s propitiation on the cross for our sins, the need for repentance, the gift of the Holy Spirit living inside His children, and His future return. No hidden keys, no locks that we can’t access. And if there were such keys, they are not what “transforms your life to joy, success and blessing.” Transformation is God’s sanctifying work in us.

Again, The Book of Mysteries is to be read as fiction. But with revelations that are supposed to illuminate God’s Word. From a different, fictitious “teacher” other than the Holy Spirit.

Statement 2

“The reader will discover life-transforming secrets, mind-blowing realities, and heart-changing revelations in such mysteries as The Face in the Waters, The Leper King, The Land of Gezarah, The Secret of the Third Prince, The House of Spirits, The Mystery of the Rains, How to Alter Your Past, The Mystery of the Second Scroll, The Similitude, The Mystery of the Eighth Day, and much more.

These are very interesting section titles. You won’t find these terms in your Bible, but the ideas behind them are supposed to reveal the mysteries of the Bible. I took some time to research a few of these, and downloaded a preview of Cahn’s book. The Land of Gezarah, for instance, occurs on Day 90, where “The Teacher” character takes out a piece of parchment he calls “a command from God” and explains to The Traveler the significance of “The Land of Gezarah”. It isn’t a city or province in Israel, but a made-up place in the Book of Mysteries where Cahn explains the scapegoat in Leviticus 16 escapes to. (pardon my dangling participle!) Gezarah means “cut off.” It is a Hebrew metaphor.

Statement 3

The Book of Mysteries takes the readers on a journey of divine revelation through ancient Scriptures, the laws of Creation, the deep of God’s Word, the hidden streams of history, the most important keys of spiritual truth, end-time mysteries, and the secrets of life.”

If by “divine revelation” we are talking about the Holy Spirit revealing the truth to us when we read the pure words in Scripture, then we might want to simply read Scripture. The danger of reading a fiction book to receive divine revelation is that these “keys” we receive will most certainly come from a counterfeit, fictional source, which in this case is a book character’s fictional journal. This technique is also used by the wildly popular Jesus Calling dynasty, from Sarah Young.

Can fictional allegory help readers understand the eternal concepts of God’s truth? Yes. An example of this would be Joh Bunyon’s excellent Pilgrim’s Progress. But we don’t devote ourselves daily to the reading of that book. And Pilgrim’s Progress never promised to help unlock the secrets that will transform our lives to “joy, success and blessing.”

    Mr. Cahn is shameless, he’s fooled so many undiscerning sheeple by false prognostication, date setting, blood moons fallacy, the list is too long. This man is to be avoided at all costs, a typical wolf. What irks me is after all the many failed predictions this charlatan has been responsible for, all the false predictions and false theology there are those that will still blindly follow this wolf and pay hard earned money to purchase his diabolical books. Part and parcel of the apostasy and the strong delusion afflicting Churchianity. Stay away! Him and Sid Roth………both apostates.

      The sad part is that scripture warns of WOLVES not just a wolf. This particular wolf may be an alpha in the pack but be sure there is a pack behind the alpha, and they look like sheep as well. Wolves operate in packs and their purpose is to kill and eat for their own survival.

        Get saved. Cahn’s knowledge of the Jews and culture and deep words is revelation ,based on God’s word and prophetic.
        I sense Anti-semitism here
        Jesus is a Jew .Cahn is highly favored , has studied and been given great revelation from God. Hebrew is an amazing language the letters represent the dynamics of numbers .There is great revelation now.” Cosmos “is an overwhelming book by a dr. And “Say Good -bye to Uncle Sam ” Rodney Howard Brown is incredible .It is an expose ; expose of the world controllers. Knowledge is increased .
        ou are missing out.
        Best not to speak against God’s anointed …especially Jews..

    This was a great article written when the Shemitah craze was being pushed by Cahn and Roth. Rank heresy and apostasy.

      I was given the Shemitah book early 2015…immediately felt something was off about it…found this article by Amy and was introduced to the world of being a Berean…saw the same book being sold in my Church’s bookstore… soon followed up with my Church hosting this man as a guest speaker…then I left my Church for one that teaches from the Word and very closely guards the clock from the wolves.

    Amy, as I was reading your article, I was thinking allegory and Pilgrim’s Progress. Then, I got to your last paragraph and saw that you covered that. I agree that we are to fill our thoughts with the Word of God, hopefully daily, but what if someone were to add a fictional daily read? I’m not saying Cahn’s book should be that daily dose, but your assertion that an allegory cannot fulfill a daily devotion seems a bit legalistic. I know people who read Pilgrim’s Progress every year and get more out of it each time they read it. But they also read the Bible on a daily basis.

    Every day, I read from the Bible. Each night, I typically read a couple chapters of Christian fiction, followed up with a commentary or some other Biblical study. I’m not devoted to the fiction or the commentary, but it helps to open up my brain to a different way of processing Biblical truth. An allegory can do the same. Again, I’m not saying that Cahn’s book is necessarily the answer because I haven’t read it. My point is that your statement seems legalistic to me and I hope it won’t cause your readers to become legalistic in their relationships with God.

      People were in love with Jesus Calling. Turns out is is new age silliness with a little Christian language sprinkled in. It doesn’t so much matter what we like. What matters is the truth and the only thing that we know is truth in these dark days is the word of God. I suggest that we all stick with that.

          The Shack is new age blasphemy. Agreed. But I didn’t say that we put our hope in commentaries or allegories. Please don’t twist my words.

      • berlorac August 11, 2016 at 10:11 am #

        Jesus Calling is not an allegory, it’s blasphemous drivel. A Biblical allegory will use the Word of God in a fictional context as Bunyon did. If you read what I wrote, you would see that I do not advocate reading just any book that purports to be Christian. But we can read things other than the Bible for edification. If not, then you might want to stop reading blogs.

      • berlorac August 11, 2016 at 11:47 am #

        Sola, if we are only to read the Bible, then why do you publish a blog? Why do you direct us to your blog to read your articles? Is this not hypocrisy? By all means, have a blog, write articles that illuminate the Word of God and that point us to the Word, but don’t criticize others who do the same. Don’t judge me if I like to read allegories that illuminate the truths found in the Bible.

        • Sola Scriptura August 12, 2016 at 3:52 pm #

          Good question. I lead you to my blog to read writings that lay out scripture after scripture on critical biblical topics, and specifically attack lies by false preachers and teachers in order to protect the flock. We are told by Paul to study to show ourselves approved. I am writing the results of that studying for myself and others to review. I obviously read this blog, and enjoy it…why? Because it is taking on the false prophets and teachers….with scripture. My blog (and this one) don’t take the place of scripture, they just put complete thoughts together from them. Jesus Calling, Pilgrims Progress and the Shack are simply made up stories, People can test my writings – and Amy’s – by going directly to the word in order to see] if what I’m saying is true.

          • berlorac August 12, 2016 at 9:16 pm #

            Hey Sola, thanks for the reply. I’m wondering why you put Pilgrim’s Progress in the same category as junk like Jesus Calling and The Shack. Of course, an allegory like PP doesn’t take the place of the Bible. Nothing does. But you can read PP and see that everything that happens in the allegory is taken straight out of Scripture. You can check it against the Bible, just as you would have me do with Amy’s writings or yours. To dismiss all allegories as unbiblical, and to assume that anyone learning from or enjoying Biblical allegories is somehow “lesser than” other believers, or is going astray, is very myopic and, frankly, disingenuous.

          Anyone and I mean anyone who thinks Yeshua HaMashiac, Jesus Christ or whatever name he is called in different languages wasn’t a practicing Jewish Messiah first, then unto the gentiles second is missing out on The Specific understanding of scripture when viewed as a Jewish Messianic Movement first. The title if Christian is a derogatory term meant to belittle the first believers. Ooi your just a little Christian.. Now let me say this is my opinion based on my understanding of both historical, archaeology and religious text’s. Jesus wrote the law, he knew it better than any man could. He said I did not come to abolish the law or the prophets, but to fulfill the scriptures. You can’t fully understand the scriptures without the The ENTIRE BIBLE. Which is based on The Chosen People of God, I am that I am. I listen to Jewish Teachers who believe in Messiah Jesus.. It gives me a fullness of understanding that nothing else can. My Shepherd, King of King’s and Lord of Lord’s. Amen!

  4. Edwitness August 9, 2016 at 10:05 pm #

    Mr. Cahn has not once “prognosticated” nor “prophesied” as a prophet of old would anything he writes about. Several times I have heard him speak and he always rejects the title of “prophet”. Jonathan Cahn being “known throughout the world as a prophetic voice” does not mean he is or claims to be a prophet. It simply means he believes God has shown him interpretations of prophetic things for our generation in the already prophesied passages given by true prophets of God found in the Bible.

    Whether or not what he has said happens can not make him a “false prophet” or a “prophet” for that matter, because he does not claim to be one.

    So your original claims about him are false because they are based on false premises.

    Blessings:-}

    • Rich Kelley August 10, 2016 at 11:45 am #

      “About the Author

      JONATHAN CAHN is known throughout the world as a prophetic voice for this generation and for the opening up of the deep mysteries and treasures of God.”

      The above statement is from Mr. Cahn’s own book that HE signed off on to be published. If he doesn’t see himself as a prophet the removal of this statement should have happened before it was published for all to read. His allowing this statement to be published as fact speaks for itself.

    • Salt and Fire August 10, 2016 at 8:09 pm #

      Interesting point Edwitness but . . . there is Cahn’s “escape hatch’ so to speak. It doesn’t take a “Profit” to realize Cahn knows if he preface’s that he is not a Prophet, he can not have to be held accountable to his very prophetic fore tellings. As it is written, You will know them by their Fruit. As far as the Messianic / Jewish Roots emphasis in general try watching this featured video (no agenda or interpretations here) http://www.higherpraisetube.com/user/saltandfire

      • Edwitness August 11, 2016 at 7:07 am #

        Salt and Fire,
        I agree that Jewish roots is false teaching. But I do not agree that there is a necassary connection between being a Jewish person that is a believer in Jesus and Jewish roots theology. Thus far I have not seen this regarding Mr. Cahn.
        As for “profit” and “escape hatch”. They are not necassary for someone who is not a prophet, right? So your point is moot.

  5. Manny1962 August 10, 2016 at 9:00 am #

    Right Ed I guess you’re an apologist for the hack.

    Be honest enough to admit the man is a false teacher, not just from false date setting to “visions” time and space do not allow me to start posting links showing the sheer folly coming out from the mouths of Cahn and Roth, but any reader here can search google, it’s amazing anyone would stand up for these wolves, specially after the blood moon and Shemitah debacle!

    This is why Churchianity is wrecked, false teachers, false dates, false enterpretations, applying to America covenants that were made to Israel, the list goes on!

    • Edwitness August 11, 2016 at 7:21 am #

      Manny 1962,
      If you had a clue what is really going on economically you would not say that.

      Also he has answered some of these questions and assertions before. here are a few.

      Concern: Israel is not America, and God did not make a covenant with us, nor are we the apple of His eye.
      Cahn Answers: The Harbinger never says Israel is America or that God made a covenant with us. It does say that the Puritans, America’s founders established America after the pattern of ancient Israel and saw themselves in covenant with God – But it is never said that God made a covenant with America. Whether He has honored their prayers and consecration is left an open question.
      Question: What is The Harbinger actually saying?
      Cahn Answers: Very simple. God judges nations. God warns of judgment. God is able to warn a nation of judgment in a way that is consistent with that which is found in the Bible. And that now the same biblical pattern, progression, and signs of national judgment that appeared in the last days of ancient Israel, are now manifesting to America. And that these signs are appearing in uncanny, eerily precise manifestations.
      The Harbinger is not only the revealing of these biblical mysteries or connections, but is a call to repentance, salvation, and revival.
      Question: What do you think the opposition comes from?
      Cahn Answers: There are ministries that set themselves to look for error. This can provide a useful and important service for the body. But the problem is the downside – that the propensity to raise the sword, to quickly reject, to seek to find error (even when it’s not there) and to attack almost reflexively can become as much an error, a problem, and as dangerous as those who too readily accept teachings without questioning. The Harbinger is unique and doesn’t have much of a precedent – It appears as something very much out of the box. And then there’s the spiritual realm. If something is being used to affect many for revival, and repentance, and breakthrough, we have to expect that there will be opposition and misunderstanding, even by those meaning well.
      The claims as even seen here, have grown increasingly bizarre and removed from the reality of The Harbinger. It’s a good sign. For that reason alone I would argue that something powerful is happening here.
      From the writers mouth. Believe him or don’t. But, these answers show that he does believe that Jesus is the Messiah and that America is in need of repentance. I don’t have a problem with that, do you?

Blessings:-}

  6. Manny1962 August 10, 2016 at 9:05 am #

    Oh Ed, he might not call himself a “prophet” but he sure does act like one, or at least tries, though, problem is his “predictions” and date setting never seen to pan out! Remember his December dates for the Shemitah, the Blood Moons hysteria? Why do you support a a know wolf? Do you believe the church has replaced Israel? Do you believe in the Blood Moon theory or Shemitah?

    • Edwitness August 11, 2016 at 7:54 pm #

      Manny,
      I find it interesting that you so badly want to label him a self proclaimed prophet when he clearly rejects the title. It’s because without it he is just a popular teacher who you believe is wrong about what he teaches. Even if you are correct this is not a disqualification for salvation.

      If you don’t like what he teaches don’t listen to or read it. But, your labeling him as a false prophet is misguided. When someone gives their interpretation of a prophetic passage in the Bible that is not the definition of a prophet. The prophet that gave the Biblical prophecy is.

      And yes I do believe the blood moon teaching in scripture. Joel2:31- “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come”. Notice it says “before”.
      But, as far as I am concerned, the jury is still out when it comes to his Shemitah teaching. The way I remember him teaching it, Israel has had very important events fall very near or on the Shemitahs as well. Hardly seems to be replacing Israel with America there.

      Blessings:-}

      • Edwitness August 15, 2016 at 11:01 pm #

        Amy,
        For someone to have a “prophetic message” or to be a “prophet” are two different things. A prophet is the one who gives the utterance straight from God. Isaiah, Jeremiah, Hosea etc. Mr. Cahn’s “prophetic message” is his interpretation of an already given prophecy.

        At least that is how I have always understood his meaning. Especially since I have heard him myself reject the title of prophet.

        Blessings:-}

  8. Manny1962 August 10, 2016 at 2:49 pm #

    “He has been labelled a modern day prophet as he brings a prophetic message with The Harbinger where he blatantly implies that America is treading the same path for judgment as ancient Israel and connects Isaiah 9:10 to America. The Harbinger was published by FrontLine, an imprint of Charisma House which used to be known as Strang Communications run by Steve Strang who is part of the New Apostolic Reformation.”

    http://www.charismamedia.com/index.php/news-room/89-strang-communications-rebrands-itself-as-charisma-media

    “Strang Communications Rebrands Itself as Charisma Media
    The company known for the last 30 years as Strang Communications is rebranding itself as Charisma Media beginning Feb. 1.

    The name change correlates with a series of recent corporate shifts, including relaunching the company’s flagship magazine and renaming its book division. Founder and CEO Steve Strang says the moves not only position Charisma Media for growth in the digital age, but also undergird the organization’s purpose of inspiring people to radically change their world through the diversified resources the company produces.

    Charisma Media is best known for its magazines such as Charisma, Ministry Today and Christian Retailing. But its book group, now called Charisma House, has grown rapidly in recent years with 10 books on the New York Times best-sellers list and has become the largest part of the company. The Spanish group, called Casa Creación, was the fastest-growing part of the organization in 2010. And the company is moving boldly into digital products that include a free Charisma News app, electronic books, many e-newsletters, a robust website and digital editions of its magazines that have readership in the top tier of digital magazines nationally.

    In his column in the February issue of Charisma, Strang explained the name change this way: “Charisma is our strongest brand. It refers not only to spiritual gifts but also to our calling and passion to serve God and the church. Media signifies the diversified ways we can communicate—not only in print through magazines and books, but also online, via apps and the myriad of other digital vehicles.”

    A new Charisma Media logo has been designed and shows the initials CM as a flame in a pot of oil, signifying the flame of the Holy Spirit. The corporate website has been relaunched as charismamedia.com, and a new sign will be erected in front of the company headquarters at 600 Rinehart Road in Lake Mary, Fla. The company’s other well-known brands such as Charisma magazine, Ministry Today, Christian Retailing, Creation House and Casa Creación in Spanish will remain the same. However, the entire book division will now go by Charisma House instead of Strang Book Group.

    Long recognized as an innovator, the company has become known as the leading charismatic/Pentecostal publisher in the world. Multiple industry leaders and distributors have acknowledged it as the premier publisher of charismatic titles and health books from a Christian perspective.

    Many of the company’s staff have been recognized for excellence in various ways, mostly through the Evangelical Press Association and the Florida Magazine Association. The Spanish Evangelical Products Association named Casa Creación Publisher of the Year four years in a row. The company also recently had five books sell more than 1 million copies—most recently 23 Minutes in Hell by Bill Weise and Heaven Is So Real by Choo Thomas. The company staff also reflects the ethnic diversity of the church market it serves, with 43 percent of the staff being considered “minority.”

    In 1975 Strang, then a 24-year-old newspaper reporter, persuaded the leaders of megachurch Calvary Assembly in Winter Park, Fla., to start a small magazine called Charisma. After rapid growth the magazine spun off on its own within six years into the company now called Charisma Media. Since that time, Strang’s wife, Joy, has helped him as co-owner to build the company, serving not only as Chief Financial Officer but also in other strategic roles, such as heading up the current rebranding process.”

What gives with you people. At least he was telling what thought,he’s is a Rabbi and would not intentionally lie. He’s not trying to deceive anyone. His book of Mysteries can be used along with the Bible he never suggested we use it instead of the scriptures!!!!!!! Use your head people

      Timothy White, your right! And they teach that 2 Thess. 2:3 is the rapture and not the falling away. They teach the parables of the sower are all believers as well as the Laodicean church are all believers. I heard one say that cold mean “refreshing” Serious!! There is no teaching of apostasy, and the pastors want to be worshipped.

  10. Nannette August 10, 2016 at 4:55 pm #

    I have been disappointed even a little depressed with all this. There are 2 camps. The first is the obvious false teachers and cults, and the 2nd is the so called Evangelical, Pentecostal camp. They teach through the Bible, teach on Bible prophesy and call out false teachers while they have people who speak in their churches who went to Jesuit Catholic Universities, who are ecumenical, who read books by monks, and go one so called Christian radio programs. The same people bouncing from church to church and prophesy conferences. How much leaven are we to read or listen too? “Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? 1 Corinthians 5:6 A false teacher like Johnathan Cahn obviously worships another god, in no way different that the Seventh Day Adventist Church in which Ellen G. White would proclaim mysteries that only God gave her. He speaks on camp 2’s popular Christian radio programs. You try to tell them that there is something wrong with what he says and they get angry! Personally, I’m staying away from all of them lest I disobey God. “And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.” Matthew 24:4. Some Calvary Chapel’s are having prophesy conferences in which Pyllis Schafly (a Roman Catholic) is speaking as well as Erick Stakelbeck who went to Holy Family University in Pa. So is Norman Geisler and Erwin Lutzer both who went to Loyola, Jesuit university, by they way Lutzer is frequent on Worldview Weekend, and So is Mr. Cahn on Olive Tree Minsitries. It’s depressing.

    • Edwitness August 11, 2016 at 7:28 pm #

      Nannette,
      Please give one example of a belief of Mr. Cahn’s that would disqualify him from salvation? All wrong beliefs are not in this category. Only a select few are.
      Example;
      Jesus is not God.
      Jesus did not die for the sin of the world and raise from the dead.
      Works + faith = salvation………..These are in the category.

      Not these;
      The church replaced Israel. Even though this is wrong teaching it does not disqualify from salvation.
      The Shemitah applies to the US. While it can be wrong it also does not disqualify one from salvation.

      We are saved by grace through faith, and that not of ourselves. It(faith) is a gift of God. Not of works lest any man should boast. Where is being wrong about one’s interpretation of prophecy in that? It is not.

      Blessings:-}

  11. Manny1962 August 10, 2016 at 6:13 pm #

    Hello Nannette,

    Please don’t get depressed! This was foretold to happen! Be happy, for the return of Christ is near! Do your job as an evangelist, proclaim to all, if they listen excellent, if they don’t want to hear you, it’s on them.

    Mr.Cahn is one of many who lead the gullible and undiscerning astray. His mode is to replace Israel with America, make his followers follow Hebrew tenets, which is unbiblical, he is a judaizer, Paul spoke of these false brethren, they themselves could not keep the law and yet were compelling others to keep it. He is also one to prognosticate, give a date and when it doesn’t occur he’ll say something like “you can’t keep in a box.” Well the problem with Mr.Kahn is simple he either is a charlatan or God has been giving him faulty “visions.”

    Ed, the evidence against the false rabbi is overwhelming, yet you want to follow him. That you do at your own peril.

  14. Manny1962 August 11, 2016 at 8:43 am #

    Obviously you believe the shemitah nonsense being applied to the US, as you question my grasp on the economy, I’m sure you were fawning over his blood moon nonsense too, and to be frank if you think the church has replaced Israel you’re in for a surprise. Let me ask you, do you follow the Hebrew calendar? Do you believe the church has replaced Israel? Do you believe America has replaced Israel?

    • nannette August 11, 2016 at 9:39 am #

      Manny, Ed won’t listen, he is following Cahnman instead of Christ. This is what is going on, people are following men and not reading their Bible’s. Mr. Cahnman prophesies that did not come true. All he had to do according to the Word of God is do it once and then we are commanded not to listen to him. It won’t matter for people like Ed. He wants to believe what Mr. Cahnman says instead of what God says. I’m reminded of the ‘Thiemeites’ remember them? No one talks of R.B. Thieme anymore but there are countless preachers in the pulpits that teach what he wrote. Just punch it in google and see. One thing he taught was that a woman could have an abortion because it’s not a baby until it’s born. He was a arrogant heavy shepherd, a leader of a cult.

      • Edwitness August 11, 2016 at 7:17 pm #

        Nannette,
        I do listen. I just don’t agree with what you settle for as “evidence”. Mainly that Mr. Cahn claims to be or is a prophet. He is not and he does not.

        And I have not read R.B.Thiem’s messages. But, if as you said, he believes an unborn baby isn’t human he was wrong. Abortion is homocide.

        Blessings:-}

      Manny,
      You asked “Let me ask you, do you follow the Hebrew calendar? (NO) Do you believe the church has replaced Israel? (NO) Do you believe America has replaced Israel? (NO)

      If your point in asking these questions is that in order for me to defend Mr. Cahn when you attack him with unprovable statements, I must therefore believe in these things, you are mistaken.

      Again I repeat, Mr.Cahn does not accept the title of prophet. I have seen him on several occasions correct those who would give him the title. He is not a prophet. He simply believes he sees in the prophecies of scripture some end times events. The Shemitah teaching being part of them.

      And I do not “follow” Mr. Cahn. I do however believe he is a brother in Christ as he has said many times that he trusts Jesus as his savior, Lord and God. Much the same as Thomas in John20:28.

      Blessings:-}

    Thanks Nannette, I’ll google R.B.Thieme. As for Ed, you’re right, the blind leading the blind.

      Thanks Manny, excellent! By the way while you are checking out R.B. Thieme Jr. punch in “Reversionism” a major ‘doctrine’ by Thieme. And watch this, It might make you a little nauseous, but… we should know when preachers are using this doctrine that is NOT in the Bible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQjqonAnrsw&feature=em-share_video_user By they way it’s not Mark Cahill’s fault the pastor used his video on this way. What a shame.

    “So who is Jonathan Cahn then and what does he believe?
    Well if you go to his website it says:

    Jonathan Cahn“Jonathan Cahn is President of Hope of the World ministries, Senior Pastor and Messianic Rabbi of the the Jerusalem Center/ Beth Israel in Wayne, New Jersey. He is also the author of the best selling book ‘The Harbinger‘. His teachings are broadcast daily over hundreds of radio stations throughout the United States and the world and on television. He ministers, as did the first Jewish messengers of the Gospel, sharing the message of Messiah to Jew and Gentile, Israel, and the nations. He has ministered before mass gatherings in India, Nigeria, Cuba, Mizoram, Honduras, Haiti, & throughout the world. His teachings are widely known for revealing the deep mysteries of God’s word and for the restoring of the new covenant message to its original biblically Jewish richness and power.” [Emphasis added] —http://www.bethisraelworshipcenter.org/aboutjonathan.htm

    That is very interesting. So Jonathan Cahn knows the deep mysteries of God’s Word that Christians don’t know? And only Jonathan Cahn can reveal these mysteries to us? Jonathan Cahn’s plan is also to restore the message that Jesus Christ preaches to it’s original Jewish richness and power. So until Jonathan Cahn came along all born again believers for the last 2000+ years that have been reading the Scriptures were reading a bible that had no value and no authority what-so-ever. Isn’t that nice, that Jonathan Cahn came to save the day.

    What does he mean by all ‘richness and power’? Does he mean that we need to infuse the Bible with Kaballah mysticism in order to understand it properly?

    Here is another version of his biography that was on his website but the link has now been removed:

    “Jonathan Cahn is President of Hope of the World ministries….Descended of the line of Aaron, he has been asked to sound the Jubilee trumpet and minister among the nations, a prophetic ministry of and to the Jew and the Gentile in the last days. His teachings include the revealing of ancient mysteries, the depth and wonders of God’s Word, and the restoration of the Gospel message in its original Biblically Jewish context, richness, and power.”

    Who asked him to sound the Jubilee trumpet? And what does that mean exactly? Here he states that his ministry is a prophetic ministry. As Christians we know that there is no such thing as a prophetic ministry. People will only begin to prophesy again in the last days (during the Tribulation):

    Acts 2:17-18 “And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:” 18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:” (Joel 2:28)

    There is a movement called the ‘Hebrew Roots Movement’ where they believe that you cannot understand the bible unless you go back to your Hebrew ways (become like the Jews) and read extra biblical sources such as the Midrash, Zohar and the Talmud etc., to gain a higher enlightenment of the Scriptures.”

    “The Zohar (Hebrew: זֹהַר, lit. “Splendor” or “Radiance”) is the foundational work in the literature of Jewish mystical thought known as Kabbalah.[1] It is a group of books including commentary on the mystical aspects of the Torah (the five books of Moses) and scriptural interpretations as well as material on mysticism, mythical cosmogony, and mystical psychology. The Zohar contains discussions of the nature of God, the origin and structure of the universe, the nature of souls, redemption, the relationship of Ego to Darkness and “true self” to “The Light of God”, and the relationship between the “universal energy” and man. Its scriptural exegesis can be considered an esoteric form of the Rabbinic literature known as Midrash, which elaborates on the Torah.

    The Zohar is mostly written in what has been described as a cryptic, obscure style of Aramaic.[2] Aramaic, the day-to-day language of Israel in the Second Temple period (539 BCE – 70 CE), was the original language of large sections of the biblical books of Daniel and Ezra, and is the main language of the Talmud.[3]

    The Zohar first appeared in Spain in the 13th century, and was published by a Jewish writer named Moses de León. De León ascribed the work to Shimon bar Yochai (“Rashbi”), a rabbi of the 2nd century during the Roman persecution[4] who, according to Jewish legend,[5][6] hid in a cave for thirteen years studying the Torah and was inspired by the Prophet Elijah to write the Zohar. This accords with the traditional claim by adherents that Kabbalah is the concealed part of the Oral Torah.”

    Cahn And Zohar,

    Why would a “Christian” follow mysticism?

    This is where the little rabbi gets his inspiration and his secret wisdom:

    He is not a brother in Christ, he’s naming the name of Christ, he says he gets special revelation from God, yest his source is the Zohar which is the foundation of Kabbalah, Jewish mysticism or the more correct term……divination or witchcraft. I posted a video of the little rabbi expounding from the Zohar. So Ed how can you call him a brother in Christ? I wouldn’t be supporting this man, what does the bible say about keeping company with one who calls himself a brother yet practices what the bible calls abomination.

    You were really stretching to find anything wrong with this book… you were unsuccessful in my opinion. Looks like basically you don’t like it because someone might be using a fictional book as a devotional. I doubt that is a sin. You’re also assuming that if they read this they are not reading their Bible at all. That is also a stretch.

      Cindy,

      This is the little rabbi’s philosophy in a nutshell:

      Cahn is a mystic of sorts, not a good one either, his predictions don’t come to pass.i guess Kabbalah isn’t inspired…….

    So many went to your Zohar site. Its amazing not one of his books are in there. Pretty easy to tell the denomination behind this hate.sen this before. Wanted to attach a copy of the end of the book which has a pray to receive Jesus as there Lord and savior. False teachers ,people lead lost sheep away from him not to him. Jim Jones, and the Waco guy glad I forgot his name. Those claim to be christ them selves. Can just like Cahn each of you are not perfect and will not be till hopefully heaven is your home. There are mysteries unknown to us revealed in Gods word. I find them daily but also find it awesome to know the ways of Jesus my savior as He was a jew who followed Jewish customs he spoke into existence. Read Revelations there are feast we will partake of in heaven , so show up ignorant. False teachers teach against Christ deity not for it. Ask for your logs to be removed so you can see clearly. We need each other brothers if someone denies Christ than yes less all run from them. But Christ made us all unique. If Jesus came and sat next to you in a restaurant would you even know him. Religious lot had him there and accused him of the same things you slinging today. Putting down my stone just like he would.
