Fixer Upper Stars Under Fire for Attending Evangelical Church

According to a report by Todd Starnes, host of Fox News and Commentary, the “LGBTQ mob” has their sites set on HGTV’s Chip and Joanna Gains.  If if turns out that they share their pastor’s beliefs on homosexuality, powerful LGBTQ activists will go to great lengths to destroy the couple.  Their pastor, Jimmy Seibert, holds to the biblical view of marriage — one man one woman for life.  He doesn’t happen to share the PC view that homosexuals are born that way; his opinion, which he’s entitled to, is that homosexuality is a “lifestyle.”  Moreover, he believes homosexuality is a sin against God.  Pastor Seibert’s beliefs come from the clear teaching of Scripture:

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.  And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. — 1 Cor 6:9-11

So now to Todd Starnes’ report….

One of my guilty pleasures in life is to watch Fixer Upper marathons on HGTV.

Hosts Chip and Joanna Gaines have not only made Waco, Texas a tourist destination, but they’ve also educated us about the many uses of shiplap.

If you aren’t a fan of the show, you might want to Google that.

I also appreciate that Chip and Joanna are devout Christians. Viewers can see how their faith flavors not only their television program – but also their family life.

But not everyone appreciates those Christian beliefs – especially the militant LGBT crowd.

And now, they are on the warpath.

The Mainstream Media and militant LGBT activists are unleashing their fury over reports the Gaines family attends Antioch Community Church, a non-denominational megachurch.

“Chip and Joanna Gaines’s Pastor Preaches ‘Homosexuality is a Sin’” – blared a headline on Cosmopolitan.

“Chip and Joanna Gaines’ Church is Firmly Against Same-Sex Marriage,” screamed a Buzzfeed headline. “Their pastor considers homosexuality to be a ‘sin’ caused by abuse – whether the Fixer Upper couple agrees is unclear.”

What the shiplap, America?!”

“Their pastor, Jimmy Seibert, is both staunchly against same-sex marriage and a strong believer that homosexuality is a ‘lifestyle’ choice and a ‘sin’,” Cosmo reported.

This bit of news was more than their feeble journalistic minds could handle.

“Given the diversity of Fixer Upper’s audience, this is a startling revelation that has left many wondering where Chip and Jo stand,” Cosmo reported.

Buzzfeed went so far as to investigate Pastor Seibert’s sermons – demonstrating that what is preached from the pulpit at Antioch Community Church is the same kind of message being preached in nearly every evangelical church in America.

Our friends at Newsbusters tracked down this item from US Weekly:

“As a Fixer Upper fan, I would love to know @joannagaines and @chippergaines’s thoughts on their pastor’s hateful, anti-LGBT beliefs,” one viewer declared. Another went further, writing: “If Chip and Joanna Gaines end up being anti-LGBT, I am cancelling my mag subscription and ignoring their show.”

An HGTV spokesperson told me in a statement, they “respect the privacy of our show hosts and will not comment on matters related to their personal lives.”

Understandably, neither the Gaines family nor the church wanted to comment. And nor should they have to comment.

“While fans shouldn’t necessarily jump to conclusions about what this might mean, for many people who watch the show, their silence speaks volumes,” Cosmo wrote. ‘Here’s hoping they speak up about this soon.”

Well, here’s a truth bomb for Cosmo and Buzzfeed. It’s really none of your business where Chip and Joanna Gaines worship.

And for the record, where were their hysterical screeds when President Obama’s pastor was asking God to damn America? Anybody want to talk about those roosting chickens?  Continue reading

Let’s see how long before HGTV folds, expect to be hated for standing up for Jesus.

Manny, I really don’t think HGTV is going to fold. They are part of this set up that will be attacking Christianity and the church – very deceptive!!! I also believe the Gaines couple are knowingly being used to condition viewers to hate those Christians who oppose the LGBT movement. They are setting up the church, the pastors and Christianity to look like “haters” and as being “the problem.” Nothing good comes out of television. Pastors better be paying attention…this issue will be coming to a church near you IF you are a 501c3 registered church. It pains me to say this, but this couple is no different than all the others on television who profess Christ. I also believe they already sold out just to get their show in the first place. Do not be fooled.

David, are you aware of the Benham brothers? Are you aware of the fact that when the Benham’s were cancelled due to their Biblical marriage stance, the first one to call them was Chip Gaines to offer his support? The Gaines believe in Biblical marriage.

I agree that it will be interesting to see how the Gaines respond to this. But rather than condemn them, maybe you could pray that God be with them in this time of trial, that the Gaines would remain faithful. We are called to come to the aid of our brothers and sisters.

David…you are correct. See my longer comment below. They are part of an outrageously false Laodicean church that loves and follows Bethel, and practices and teaches all manner of false doctrine. I know first hand, having been to the church personally, and having listened to sermons online.

      • berlorac December 1, 2016 at 12:33 pm #

All the more reason to pray for those who are in the spotlight, under pressure. Rather than assume that the Gaines are false professors, perhaps we could pray that God uses this situation to move them further toward Him and His truth.

It is a carnal thing to make accusations without actually knowing the people and the situation. We are called to come alongside those who need discipling. Let all malice and backbiting be put away.

We are told by Paul to test all things…prove all thing, and he even challenged Peter publicly in Galatians 2 when he was teaching false doctrine. We are also told by Jesus, Paul and Peter to watch out for wolves in sheep’s clothing who will destroy the precious flock .I have personally obeyed the scriptures, and tested their church and it’s doctrine. I, with my eyes and ears, have also heard Joanne’s testimony…and their church and her testimony are found wanting.

Jesus Christ himself told us to judge, not by mere appearances(they say they are christians), but in truth by his word. That I did…and what I found doesn’t line up with the eternal word of God, as nice, funny and attractive as they are. As Paul said, may God be true and every man a liar. I suggest you worry more about the flock lost in their mega church than about some millionaire “christian” tv couple.

I encourage you to put aside your human wisdom and americanized “christian” thinking, and to obey instead the word of God and boldly fight for His truth….no matter what it costs any man. It sounds and feels so god to say “don’t judge!!” yet it is a lie from hell designed to keep God’s people from the truth. We are like grass and our glory is like the flower of grass…and will burn away, but God’s word and his truth endures forever……..

          • berlorac December 1, 2016 at 1:50 pm #

I’m not saying, “don’t judge.” I’m saying, let’s wait for the Gaines’ decision. Let’s wait to see how they respond to this rather than assume that they couldn’t possibly be saved.

I know it looks bad because they go to a church that holds to some false teaching. Yes, hold the teachers there up to the light and call them out for being false teachers. Absolutely. But you don’t know the Gaines.

Joanna’s “testimony” is a very short snippet. We don’t know how it was edited. We don’t know all that she said that day. It may be that she’s a false professor. I don’t know. What I do know is that I’m not going to base my conclusions on that one video.

After the Lord saved me, I spent the next six years in false teaching. I didn’t know anything different. Over time, God moved me out of it, but then I ended up under a different false teaching. After two years of that, God moved me out of it. So, I spent eight years under false teaching. If you had judged me during that time, you would have concluded that I was a false professor.

My comment to David was to wait and see. Why would you want to see people fail rather than turn to God? Why would you discount the power of prayer?

The church they attend is a branch of a church many of my friends in Oklahoma attend. While they may be okay on marriage(for now), it is a highly Bethelized/Ihop church, full of lying prophets. I have heard one of their guest prophets say they have a word for someone born on a certain date, then no one answers, then they go to another date…still no answer, until finally on the third date, someone their actually was born on that date, and they give a silly “prophecy” about blessings that are coming. They, also, as a church, practice prophesying over one another en masse…as if it is something we conjure up from our hearts and minds, rather, than, as 2 Peter 1:21 says, something from the Holy Spirit.
Also, look at Joanne’s I am second video. It is all about business success and she says nothing about the blood of Christ washing away sin. It is all so very Laodicean, and so very man-centered with a little christian terminology sprinkled in. I wish it were different, but their church is the reason I started my blog…hoping to snatch my friends out of the flames. Sadly, these churches feel too good to seem unscriptural. I like what this guy has to say in his word better:
    Revelation 1
5And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

I don’t know these people so I will not pass judgement on what they believe or don’t, I do know HGTV is very, very pro homosexual. Also, I do know that TV land is generally a cesspool of anti Christian sentiment.

    • Sola Scriptura December 1, 2016 at 2:01 pm #

Hey brother Manny. The good news is that you can find out what she believes, and what is important to her when communicating her testimony by watching her video on I am Second. You can also find out what kind of doctrine surrounds them and fills them by learning about Antioch Church, as I did. Then you don’t have to worry about such horrible things as “passing judgement” because you can compare those beliefs with Gods eternal word, which allows you to not only get to know them in Christ but to judge righteously…and the truth of God is the sole goal of any Betean.

  5. Manny1962 December 1, 2016 at 2:08 pm #

Thanks brother, I will check this out. I know some are led by God to places and situations that we might be astonished at, but God always has a purpose, perhaps this couple might bring the Gospels to some? I will take your advice.

I will pass judgement on television in general…….. antichristian.

    • Sola Scriptura December 1, 2016 at 2:28 pm #

Haha. Good word on television. Sadly, based on her video testimony, and my friends who go to her church, I don’t think they teach the actual gospel(salvation from the consequences of our sin through the death, burial a resurrection of Jesus) …just material blessings and temporal success through “God,” along with some vain prophecies thrown in. That’s where they are now according to the great weight of evidence.

      • berlorac December 1, 2016 at 3:34 pm #

You have evidence that these people are in error, but your first response is to assume they’re not saved. Let me ask you, Sola, have you always been this perfect? Did you always have all the truth, even when you were first saved? Have you never erred? Have you not needed God to bring you out of wrong teaching? Have you not needed His grace? Ever?

      • berlorac December 1, 2016 at 3:36 pm #

You have friends who go to that church? Do you assume that they’re not saved? If so, do you pray for them?

  6. Mike December 1, 2016 at 6:52 pm #

Their Pastor is correct.! Just like DUCK DYNASTY I hope Chip and Johanna stick to the Lord and they don’t knuckle under to ANY pressure from people who only force their lifestyle onto others.

Long link on interview of the Gaines’ called HGTV Responds to ‘Fixer Upper’ Controversy: ‘We Don’t Discriminate Against’ LGBT Community. The interview was given by Variety 12/2/16. Two things stood out to me. 1) behind the Gainses is a fireplace mantle with what looks to be an “all seeing eye.” 2) Their pastor looks to be giving the “pyramid” hand sign.

Also, there is a link to pictures of their farmhouse in Texas. In the wife’s office, “creative room” there is none other than the “all seeing eye/pyramid” with rays coming out of it due to creative photography????? Yes, her office is in the attack and the ceiling is sloped, but this picture is undeniably deceptive if you do not have spiritual eyes to see. In fact, it is in your face! Folks, the evil symbols are all over these two and what they represent. I too believe their pastor is spiritually dangerous as well. We all need spiritual discernment in these ever darkening days we live in.

Good morning David, somehow link doesn’t play video, it does take me to man.com, snooping around there I see all the Hollywood gossip mongers are already calling for their collective heads

    • Sola Scriptura December 8, 2016 at 4:49 pm #

Good work David. All that matters is that the truth of Jesus Christ prevails, and that pretty little liars who know how to talk the talk are exposed, lest the flock be led astray. May God be true…and every man a liar.
