Postmodern Christianity’s End Game?

Do you consider yourself a Progressive Christian?  If so, you probably will bristle to hear this, but you are part of an incredibly dangerous movement: Postmodernity. Quite frankly, Postmodernity is the yeast that has taken the Church away from the truth and toward a more tolerant, sin-affirming direction that is muddied with mushy theology.

Progressive Christianity is based on three wicked practices: Scoffing (to debase those who believe the Bible is true), Subversion (to undo traditional doctrine), and Rebellion (against God’s Word as truth).

2 Peter 3:3 “…knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires.”

How can you tell if it has seeped into your church? And if it has, what – if anything – can you do about it? If you’re up to it, gird your loins and check out this video of those voices strategically and intentionally coaching Christians to think about their faith in a whole new, different and exciting way that fits better with the Third Millennium than the old way of thinking that what God said is timeless:

See what they did there? They’ve DECONSTRUCTED the words we use in our doctrine. They do this by casting doubt on the real definitions (good vs. evil; male vs. female, etc.), until the words we use to define truth no longer mean what they used to mean. It’s a whole new way to view church, Jesus, salvation, and hope in the Gospel. In fact it is a very different jesus and different gospel.

See our White Paper on Progressive Christianity

This movement isn’t for those of us who believe that all Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work, as it states plainly in 2 Timothy 3:16-17.

Progressive Christianity is another word for Postmodernity:

In the so-called “real world,” Post Modernism is a social movement; a rebellion against democracy and capitalism. Classic postmodernity is bent on implementing Marxism (without saying so). Rules are bad. Chaos and equality is good.

We see this in the news under Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals. We see this in the modern churches under the guise of the ever-morphing Emergent Church Movement, which some believe has died out. It has not. Postmoderns in the Church still care about being subversive, not truthful. Real agendas are often concealed behind mission/vision statements.

Suddenly, doubt is cool. It’s saying, “I don’t have all the answers and neither do you, but we know the One who does.”  You see, knowing the answers from God’s Word makes you a legalistic Pharisee. Remember those videos in 2005 or so titled “I’m a Christian vs. I’m a Christ Follower?”  Those were produced by a group called Christian No More. While the teens were in the youth room watching Rob Bell’s Nooma videos, churches played these clips during Sunday services. We were all having our faith deconstructed and shipwrecked.

Today’s Postmodern leaders are Andy Stanley of NorthPoint Church, and Nick Hall, who organizes large events like Reset for millennials.

With Post Modern churches, it comes down to the Authority of Scripture (as opposed to NAR or other movements where the Sufficiency of Scripture is questioned/ignored. NAR adds to Scripture, Postmodernism subtracts from the truth of historical biblical Christianity/doctrine).

I highly recommend this video, The Real Roots of the Emergent Church, by Elliott Nesch:

Over at the PCA (Progressive Christianity Alliance), a group that calls itself a “Mustard Seed Revolution of Grace, Love and Inclusion,” their website lists these “allies” and partners who are working toward changing Christianity as we know it:

Below is a listing of some of our friends in ministry and and organizations that our members and clergy are involved with.  While there is much diversity in these listings; we all hold a common desire to serve God and love one another in a visible and tangible way; although our focuses differ.

The Apostle Paul said in Axcts by o20:27, “I have not shunned the whole counsel of God.” What is the whole counsel of God? The Holy Bible, from Genesis through Revelation, book by book, chapter by chapter and verse by verse. With the whole counsel of God you will never sway away from God’s path by others who think they are doing God’s will and His path o life,
Fortunarely, my family and I have been attending Calvary chapel for over 30 years because of not some scriptures from the pulpit, but the whole counsel of God,

The progressive… the “guru” with a “new way”…

“The reason that ‘guru’ is such a popular word is because ‘charlatan’ is so hard to spell.” – William Bernstein

“Gurus” sell a better life… while living a worse one.

Jesus Christ… is not a “guru”!

If Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior… your life will be as close to hell as you’ll ever get… if not, it will be as close to heaven as you’ll ever experience. – David Nathan phrase

Corrupt, unbiblical and thoroughly wicked. These organizations are part and parcel of the Great Apostasy we are living under, no doubt these will meld and coalesce with other religions and be swallowed as part of Mystery Babylon. The bride, the true church is protected by our Lord Jesus Christ, these petty little satanic minions will have no effect on real Christians, we know who our Master is, we have His words and He loves us and bought us with His precious blood! Is it any wonder Jesus commanded us to watch?! When the Apostasy has run it’s course the man of sin will be revealed. I say watch!

The visible church (NOT the Body of Christ), that entity that passes itself off to it’s faithful (duped) followers and the world as God’s emissary to humanity has been successfully terra-formed into something that is a stench in the nostrils if God. With all the many flavors that are offered and all the “dialogue” that goes on, one might think that some sort of unity might eventually be achieved, but alas, things continue to be divided—and thank God for it. The church as is presented to the world is a laughing stock and well it should be, it DOES NOT represent the Lord Jesus Christ in any way, shape, or form, and thank God it doesn’t once again. Upon closer inspection one would find that all of organizations mentioned above are not just highly ecumenical, but they all employ deceit as the norm of their day, all will be found to espouse some form of heretical doctrine (usually multiple heresies) and all worship their chosen idol. The name “Jesus Christ” or “Christian” is nothing more than a “hook” to reel in the blind, the lame, the deaf of the spiritual variety, and their victims love to have it like that—there is no sin to deal with, no repentance required, no taking up of one’s personal cross, and never impending judgment for their rebellion. To them ‘church’ is easy and the god they worship is a piece of cake. You can rest assured that there will no genuine humility or heart-felt gratitude to their Creator on any level. Pious, false humility (the kind that makes you want to throw up) will be in ever increasing abundance—just like the stench that goes up the nostrils of God.

I understand that there may be exceptions to this on a very limited scale; assemblies lead by real men of God who still preach the Word. I wish I knew of one, there are none here in the “Bible Belt” as all the “churches” here have pledged allegiance to their favorite idol—usually themselves.

    Lord, please watch over us!

      Good comment Darrel, spot on.

I watched some of the video, it was informative and disturbing in parts. The tattooed lesbian feminist pastor is a picture of Satanic deception and delusion. The subtlety used by Bell, McClaren and others is interesting, their ‘language’ and doublespeak can draw the unregenerate in and suck them into this satanic religion, and it has/is. You can certainly see the influence of this movement all around us. Like Amy said, it’s a good video and should be viewed.

Amen Darrel, I’d say 80-90% of congregations are compromised.

    2 Timothy 4:1-4

    1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;

2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.

    3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

      Good morning Catherine,

That’s where we are at today. People don’t want the truth, they want to hear what their itching ears want to hear. People would rather compromise than question false teaching, after all false teaching appeals to their worldly view.

“Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.”
      ‭‭Romans‬ ‭16:17-18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

…“These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.”
      ‭‭Titus‬ ‭2:15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“A man that is an heretic after the first and second admonition reject; Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.”
      ‭‭Titus‬ ‭3:10-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬
