Southern Baptist Convention president to speak at IHOP-KC’s “Onething” gathering?

John Lanagan of My Word Like Fire gives us the details:

Southern Baptist Convention

Southern Baptist Convention President Ronnie Floyd will be speaking in December at Onething, the International House of Prayer’s annual celebration/convention. So will Francis Chan–for the second time. Onething takes place December 28-31, 2015.

Catholic Matt Maher will be one of the worship leaders. The IHOP Onething Worship and Leaders page notes that Maher played at the World Meeting of Families, which marked “Pope Francis’ first visit to the U.S. this year.”

Ronnie Floyd’s appearance at Onething potentially opens some Southern Baptist members to IHOP-KC influence . How many SBC members will be watching Onething online because Floyd will be speaking there? As noted in Francis Chan as IHOP-KC’s public relations agent?, Chan’s 2013 participation in Onething was a public relations bonanza for IHOP-KC.

It should be stated that there are people in IHOP-KC who are saved. Those who have broad-brushed everyone in IHOP-KC as being heretics or apostates are in in error. Many of the young people who come to IHOP-KC are already Christians, and they want the hands-on experience that IHOP-KC seemingly offers.

Should we be concerned with IHOP-KC’s teachings? Yes. Should Christians accept or participate in IHOP-KC? We should not.

IHOP-KC is built on a contemplative foundation. Because of this, much deception has occurred. It is part of the New Apostolic Reformation (more on this in Part Two), and leader Mike Bickle, like many other contemplatives, is seemingly unconcerned about the profound differences between Catholic theology and that of the Bible.

This spiritual blindness makes sense, given Bickle’s enchantment with the long-dead Catholic contemplatives who helped spread this unholy meditative practice. Two of the most influential Catholic contemplatives were (are) Teresa of Avila and John of the Cross. Incredibly, Bickle states that he wants Father Thomas Dubay’s Fire Within, a book about these two mystics, to “be the manual for IHOP-KC.” (Read)

Part Two will cover IHOP-KC’s false teachings, Catholic leanings, NAR ideology, and long term contemplative influence.

“It should be stated that there are people in IHOP-KC who are saved.”

Sorry, Marsha, but you need to do some serious re-evaluating of what it means to be Christian, clearly IHOP-KC ain’t it. Neither is anything about the SBC “Christian” for both man-made organizations worship satan, are clearly apostate/heretical and DO NOT speak the Word of God ***** EVER.

Whoa there Darrel, I’m part of the SBC and would love for you to explain how we in the SBC worship satan? Last time I checked, which is every time I need to reaffirm our doctrinal positions, we worship God! Feel free to explain through Twitter @jesusfreak3x7

Apologies are in order, Marsha, the quote was from John Lanagan and not you. However, the conclusion remains the same and it is Lanagan who should re-evaluate what it means to be Christian. Lanagan goes out of his way to excuse his brothers in the AOG and other nut-case charismatic groups who long ago rejected Christ for their favorite “gift” of whatever spirit they follow today.

We often see 2 Timothy 3:16,17 quoted as it should be. But there are verses before and after these 2 verses such as 2 Timothy 3:13,14,15 and 2 Timothy 4:1,2,3,4 . If we look at the verses before it we see Paul telling Timothy that from childhood, he was acquainted with the sacred texts. If this is spiritual or literal childhood is hard to say here, but Timothy had been gaining knowledge of the text. If we look at how our children are taught in the ‘christian culture’ of this great land, we see how this Ihop stuff can happen. This is not a reference to pagan teaching, but to ‘christian’ teaching. My wife is homeschooling our children and some of the things in the ‘christian’ program are quite disturbing. We get the ‘oh happy day’ approach on many fronts. Repentance is a concept of the days of yore. We must understand that the Father of the Lord is not our natural father. We need adoption( Ephesians 1:5 ). This is why we need a new birth ( John 3:3 ). The Spirit is sovereign in this act ( John 3:8 ). This is why He said Luke 13:3,5 These fundamental principals are left out of most child teaching on the scripture and we get instead that God loves us all and we are all following Jesus and going to heaven. When this is the main doctrine taught children, in 20 years they have grown up and their testimony is that ‘they have always been christian’. They will collect whatever teacher that suits their wants. We read about great christian heroes and the like. But are we glorifying man and what man has done(a prime example would be Revelation 18:7 ) or are we glorifying God ( Revelation 15:4 ) How can we fear God, when our main teaching is ‘peace and security’ (1 Thessalonians 5:3 ) How many of us when we go to a Bible study, look to see what so and so says about a particular verse in scripture? We need to be looking at it and stating what is says and means and not rely on man. Yes, we may still need teaching, but if we are relying on solely being fed by man and solely being fed by what the churches are putting forth, we are being deceived! We need to be Bereans and not accepters of the doctrines of men. We are in a time, that if we allow preaching to be our main source of learning, we will be deceived! If we are not gaining knowledge from God on these matters from our own personal study, we are probably being deceived! These are perilous times! How many of us think that listening to Him is a work? How many of us think that watching for Him is a work? These are not works, these are natural responses for one that is adopted by God. God have mercy on us! Is everything in His word just an accessory besides our ‘peace and security’? This IHOP stuff just becomes the product of our great ‘christian culture’.

Wow, Cory, how simple is the answer!! Who are the leaders in the SBC and what do they REALLY teach? Is there ONE church in your SBC that teaches the pure Word of God? Most teach the Arminian lie of man’s “free-will” action being necessary for his salvation and yet show me one such teacher of Arminianism that does not also teach that a man can become lost after he was “saved” even by making his “free-will” choice to “opt out of salvation”. These Arminian lies lead to “universal salvation”, repentantless salvation, and taut a “god” who is not all powerful and totally sovereign in His dealings with man. They routinely ignore Scriptures to promote these lies and have as their champions men like Charles Grandison Finney, who by his own words was a heretic and today’s idol The Right Reverend Billy Graham-a true heretic in his own right-who promotes his ecumenical “every body is saved in the end” whether they know Christ or not. Can’t leave out America’s Pastor Rick Warren another one who teaches a repentanceless “salvation”, ecumenical everything and his own brain-child: Chrislam. How many of your fearless leaders have signed on to the ECT1 and ECT2? Al Mohler signed the Manhattan Declaration (which was, in effect, ECT3). Then we have the IMB promoting the speaking of unintelligible gibberish, and call it “speaking in tongues” like the folks at IHOP love to do. Think all this is just a coincidence?

Since it is easily proven (by the words from their own mouths) that all of your “leaders” teach lies, promote heresy, and fawn over each other like girls at a rock concert why should anyone at the SBC be seen as Christian when there is no evidence to even suggest such a thing? Then there are your “pastors” who teach lies Sunday after Sunday and those in the pew are grateful to receive their weekly “spiritual roofie” as if it were the Word of God. They have been so conditioned to take the “pastor’s” word as being superior to the written Word of God that won’t even attempt to be a Berean for fear they will be called “divisive” or a “trouble maker” when they point out error in the “pastor’s” teachings. Some of these “pastoral errors” include that it was possible for the Lord Jesus to have committed sin while He was on earth in His human body; the gospel according to Thomas is on par with the 66 Books of the Bible; Jesus killed a boy when He was 8 years old and later raised him from the dead due to a guilty conscience; adultery is ok only if “sanctioned” by God. And the beat goes on (there are names, dates, and “churches” that can be supplied). And what about your seminaries? This where all your “preacher boys” go to get “educated” under the guise of being taught the Word, but the reality is that the end product is “two-fold more a child of hell” when he comes out because of all the lies he has received as truth (Matt.23:15). They actually produce nothing but money hungry power mongers who think of themselves as infallible which Jesus called “hirelings” (John 10:11-13).

There is so much more, Cory, so one or two questions: can you show us in the Written Word of God the justification for the existence of the SBC? Knowing what you know about what really goes on in the SBC how can you justify your continued allegiance and monetary support for a group of men who make a mockery of the Lord Jesus Christ——especially in light of 2 Cor. 6:11-18?
