The race isn’t over

Screen Shot 2015-08-23 at 8.37.43 AM

Five years ago, I was blessed to be a part of something amazing: A phenomenal program and ministry I was invited to be a part as a researcher and co-host.  I smile when I recall just how frightened and naive I was in those early days about what I had signed up for! But with Ezekiel 33:1-20 as my anchor and many discerning friends who took me under their wing (Chris, Ken, Marsha, Warren, Mare, Erin, Christine and so many more), I began researching and writing about things that Christians in the sleepy church needed to know about as the time gets shorter.

I have no regrets, and can rest knowing that I have served eagerly, loyally and to the best of my ability. That season has run its course for me, as the direction and focus has changed from what it first was in December of 2010.

I wrote about the ending here, in Setting it straight. But I’d like to take a moment and talk about the beginning. Oh, what a strong, straight direction and mission we started with! Though the race course has changed, I’ve always operated as if these were my marching orders, and I still do today. This is what I wrote on that first day, and how I hope to remember it:

Stand Up For the Truth Launching December 6, 2010

Months of prayer and preparation have led us to the point where we launch our new radio show on Q90 FM.  Stand Up For the Truth, 9am weekdays on Q90 FM will not be your typical Christian radio talk show.  We will be tackling difficult issues the Body of Christ faces in a post-modern world.

From external attacks from secular humanists and radical Islam to internal attacks from movements like the Emergent Church and Social Justice camps, Stand Up For the Truth will be the “Watchman on the Wall” (Ezekiel 33) for our Christian community.  We hope to accomplish three things with our show:

First, to help Christians understand we are in a war with an enemy seeking to diminish and twist the Word of God, deceiving many.

Second, to emphasize that “sitting this battle out” is not an option.  The church in America has become the Laodicean Church in Revelations 3—we think we are rich, but are poor, wretched, pitiful, blind and lukewarm.  Jesus warns us that because we are lukewarm He will spit us out of His mouth.

Third, we need to take God at His word!  False teachers in the emergent and social justice movement are twisting God’s Word and leading people astray with teachings that tickle the ears but are in reality hollow, shallow and deceptive.  If we do not wake up and fight for God’s truth we risk losing much of this generation to satan.

Topics we will be discussing include:

  • False teachings infiltrating the church
  • Radical Islam
  • End times prophecy and world affairs
  • Attack on Christianity through media, government and public education
  • A “look in the mirror” challenging us in our pursuit of holiness as disciples of Jesus Christ

We have expert guests lined up on these topics and will be taking your questions through phone calls and emails at  If you are looking for a mushy, lukewarm Christian talk show, you will not find it here.  However if you are willing to dig deeper and fight for the Word and truth of God; if you are willing to challenge yourself to be the best disciple of Jesus Christ you can be; if you are really willing to stand up for God in a world that hates Him more each day—then join us at 9am weekdays on Q90 FM for Stand Up For the Truth—your watchman on the wall!

Amy, I so appreciate you and your faithful service. There is an up and coming 2nd generation of watch women thanks to you and the list of fabulous cohorts you mentioned, and I count myself a member of the new generation– those who have also been awakened. I look forward to what God has in store for you.

      Thank you, Lisa!

I had just begun to immerse myself into the SUFTT radio program when you strangely disappeared. I first noticed that something was amiss when the posting of the podcasts began to lag behind. In fact, I called that radio station from here in Tennessee to find out what the problem was. A gentleman answered who informed me that the person who took care of all of the social media was no longer doing that.
I just want to say that I, from the get-go of hearing the broadcast, thought that your forthright manner in discussions was unbelievably refreshing with an unbridled disregard for political correctness. I’m sure that for some perhaps there at your old job, there may have been some racked nerves and a general insecurity or a sense of losing control. Kind of like when I am out driving with my 16 year old daughter (she still has her temps) and I feel like I am absolutely powerless when we come to that intersection. “Is she going to STOP?!!!” However, I would think after 5 years, the station would give you multiple merits of credit and trustworthiness.
I cannot overstate how much of a discouragement it is when people in highly visible (and effective) ministries have a falling out. It’s noticeable even without an outsider like myself hearing the details or reading a post. To know that you have people from the ministry as well as other connected individuals who were friends who are now against you is a strong spiritual attack. I just happened to show up here very recently. Just so that God could let me see, to let me feel the pain and to lament in prayer to Him for you, for your family, the station, and a few others. The program was HELPFUL to me. And now it’s essentially gone. I wish you the best in your future endeavors and thank you for standing up for the truth.

Thanks, Tony. You are so encouraging. I’m afraid it was a little more complicated than a falling out, but God knows and He is sovereign in all things.

Amen. He is CURRENTLY working all things to our good and His glory. I have to remind myself of that. Be blessed.

You are right, Amy. The race is not over and your faithfulness in serving the Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ will see you finishing well.

I actually got chills as I read your note to Amy — in a good way! 🙂 I know I speak for Amy when I say thank you! We so appreciate it when our brothers and sisters take the time to send words of encouragement. We’re blessed by those words. I feel it’s God’s way of letting us know that what we do for Him is making a difference in people’s lives.

      We covet your prayers.

      Yours in Christ,

Marsha, It is a privilege to pray for a ministry that you and Amy have been ‘called’ to uphold. The Lord has equipped you with the skills to be Bereans. I really can not adequately express how much this means to me.

The enemy is morphing the church into something really weird. Very appreciative that youall are taking the time to chronical these changes. It allows us to more easily identify those things which may be very abrasive to our spirits and/or grievances to the Holy Spirit. So thanks for the research as well as the open forum because we thirst for The Truth but it also puts people a liittle more at ease just to make sense of some of the craziness. May God give us all the strength to keep moving forward.

See comments under the ‘setting it straight’ article above. I had a feeling that this was what was going on. The apostasy is engulfing like a thick fog all who do not stand firm in the truth, just like 2 Thess. 2 says. Time to get off that ship, it is sinking!

    God bless you sister!
