Tullian Tchividjian Emerges From Scandal With New Wife, Preaches Sermon on God’s Redemption

Christian Post, a site we do not recommend, has the latest on disgraced pastor Tullian Tchividjian. Last year we reported that after admitting to an adulterous relationship he was asked to resign from his pulpit at Coral Ridge Presbyterian in South Florida. Shortly thereafter, Tchividjian was hired by Willow Creek Presbyterian as Director of Ministry Development.  We then reported that he was immediately fired from that job when affair #2 came to light six months later.  We also let our readers know that in August of this year Tchividjian remarried.  CP has provided photos of the couple’s wedding celebration along with an excerpt from the sermon he gave.

Following are biblical qualifications for a pastor:

For an overseer, as God’s steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. – Titus 1:7-8

tullian-tchividjian-3Tullian Tchividjian, the Rev. Billy Graham’s grandson who lost his church and wife last summer to an adultery scandal, has re-emerged with a new wife and a redeeming message about God’s “magnificent intervention.”

In the sermon that also appeared to quietly address his last misstep, Tchividjian recalled a time when he got caught cutting school by his psychologist father as a teenager.

Tchividjian’s remarriage was first confirmed in a Facebook post on Saturday by his new wife, Stacie, as she highlighted a sermon he delivered at the non-denominational Spring Hills Community Church in Santa Rosa, California.”What an honor it was to be invited to Spring Hills Community Church and sincerely welcomed by such a loving staff and congregation! Our time in Santa Rosa was too short, but SO wonderful … Tullian Tchividjian (my amazing Hubby!) delivered an authentic, powerful message,” she wrote in part.While he did not comment on his remarriage, Tchividjian highlighted the same sermon on his Facebook page on Saturday about an hour after his new wife posted it.”Very grateful to our friends at Spring Hills Community Church for the invitation to come and speak a few weeks ago,” Tchividjian wrote of the Oct. 31, sermon.

“Many people inside the church have come to believe that Christianity is all about Jesus being our example, what would Jesus do? But that’s not the Good News of the Gospel.

“The Good News of the Gospel is not Jesus as our example. The Good News of the Gospel is that Jesus is our substitute. What has Jesus done? Because Jesus being my example is not good news to me and it shouldn’t be good news to you. He was perfect,” Tchividjian added.

“If you’ve ever been caught up in a secret that you don’t want anyone to know, or if you’ve ever struggled with an addiction of some sort, or you’ve been living a lie to certain degree, there’s a part of you that does not want to get caught, obviously. But there is another part down deep inside that recognizes you’re enslaved to whatever it is that you’re doing and that you need help,” he said after sharing the story.

“And there is a part of you that actually, at least in my case, wanted to get caught because you know that you’re not going to get yourself out of this mess on your own. And you’re gonna need help to get out of it. Well, that was the case for me,” he said. “I knew what I was doing was bad. I felt guilty about it, but I also knew that there was no way I was getting out of this on my own.”

He went on in the sermon to explain that Christians oftentimes can become self-righteous in a way that “keeps us from seeing God.”

“Until we see how bad we are we will never see how good God is. Grace will become nothing more than white noise to us unless we recognize just how desperately we need it,”  Tchividjian said.

God, he said, loves train wrecks and broken people because train wrecks and broken people are all that there are.

“Good meets us in messy places because messy places are all that there are. He comes to meet us in dark places because dark places are all that there are. … He loves us because we are bad and dirty,” he said.

Tchividjian resigned from his position as pastor at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, last summer due to an extramarital affair. He also filed for divorce from his now ex-wife, Kim, and was deposed of pastoral credentials by the South Florida Presbytery.

    There’s so much money to be made fleecing the ignorant that these thieving wolves keep coming back despite their scandal ridden life, anyone can be forgiven and redeemed, but you only get one shot at the pulpit, Tchividjian is as false as they come. Stay away from him.

      Happy Thanksgiving to you Manny and Q and all our bros and sis’s here.
      This man’s problem does stem from his skewed perception of bad vs good as opposed to death vs life. As the saying goes; Jesus died to make dead people alive. Not to make bad people good.
      A correct focus would bring him to understand that the motive for Jesus’ death was LOVE. And it is this love that placed Him on the cross. And it is also this love that is our example for what our choices are based upon. If we love the way Jesus does we will be faithful to our God. We will be faithful to our spouse. We will be truthful and gracious to our friends and acquaintances.
      No lying. No adultery. No theft. No…..
      Only the love of God which always does what is best for the other person first. Just like Jesus did.
      Rom.5:3-5 is the way God develops His kind of love in each of us.
      “And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
      And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
      And hope maketh not ashamed; BECAUSE THE LOVE OF GOD IS SHED ABROAD IN OUR HEARTS BY THE HOLY GHOST WHICH IS GIVEN UNTO US.”

      So, count it all joy bros and sis’s. Because this is the end of your faith.
      HIS LOVE PERFECTED IN US.

      Blessings:-}

    Sadly, there is only “repentance” when all is exposed. Yet, people suck up this type of glorious restoration. Affairs are never glorious, and neither are the destruction it leaves. He should never be allowed on the pulpit for years.

    Sure hope Tullian isn’t preaching sermons against all of those within evangelicalism that are engaging in the same type of behavior patterns that he is….tired of the pastor’s double standards and hypocrisy.

    Humility is dead within the western church as far as I have witnessed.

    Forgive us LORD.

    Hi everybody:

    Now here is an article about a false prophet. Q is spot on! This preacher Tullian Tchividjian is peddling the idea that being a Christian is supposed to be easy-peasy — a message that will lead many to stumble in their attempt to know and serve God, and a message that will lull them into a false sense of security about their salvation: it is GUARANTEED by their faith in Jesus BECAUSE OF God’s magnificent, all-encompassing love. Never fear! Just believe and by your faith ALONE you will go to Heaven! Hallelujah and pass the kool-aid!

    Jesus did NOT die an ugly, brutal, agonizing death upon the Cross so that it would be easy to enter His Father’s Kingdom of Heaven. Being a Christian is supposed to be difficult and Jesus is who we are supposed to emulate. Yes, He was without sin, and yes we will fall short of His example. What is crucial is that we do our best with the aid of the Holy Spirit, and when we inevitably stumble that we are contrite and penitent for letting down (disappointing) our Heavenly Father!

    “WWJD” is indeed an acronym to live by!
