American Library Association: Bible among top 10 most challenged books

Bible burningThy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. (Psalm 119:11)

Journalist Bill Wilson reports:

The American Library Association has released its list of the top 10 ‘challenged’ books in America.

Among books that are sexually explicit, promote sex outside of marriage, those about transgendered teens, promote homosexuality and violence, is The Holy Bible. It is the sixth most challenged book in America. This is the first time since ALA began keeping statistics in 1990 that the Bible has made the list, debuting at 6.

In context, the ALA has compiled the lists of top 100 challenged books in the decades of 1990-1999 and 2000-2010. The Bible was not on those lists. In fact, the Bible was not on the ALA challenged book list from 2011-2014. This needs to sink in. This is the first time the Bible has ever been on this list and it made it to number six. This is not only an indicator of society, but of a dangerous road ahead. (You can read Bill Wilson’s entire report right here.)

Wilson has titled his piece The Coming Bible Ban.

Many in the visible church are already distanced from the Word of God. They have been relying primarily on a mockery of the Bible for some years now. It is called The Message, and homosexuality as sin has been deleted from two key New Testament passages, along with many other unholy deletions, additions, and alterations. (Read)

Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish aught from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. (Deuteronomy 4:2)

It may come to pass that any church that wants to stay open must use a state-approved “Bible.” Perhaps that scenario will play out like The gay youth pastor and The Missive “Bible.”

Sometimes fiction becomes an accurate prediction.
