Hillsong Church Rendition of “Silent Night” Features Roaring 20’s Flappers In Nightclub Setting

Hillsong Carols London 2014 — Drummer Boy

Over at Now the End Begins, blogger Geoffrey Grider fills us in on Hillsong Church’s Christmas extravaganza that includes nearly naked “drummer boys” and songs about Santa Claus and Rudolf.  Grider lamented: “It’s just not a proper celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ without roaring 20’s flappers, rock bands, hoochie coochie dancers, laser light shows and lots and lots of leg in a nightclub setting.  Happy Birthday, Jesus, hope you like it.”

The question is: Does Hillsong Church’s production in any way honor God?

Um, no. Watch the Youtube video of Hillsong’s 2014 version of Silent Night, Holy Night and decide for yourself.

More from The End Begins:

We have reported on the Laodicean activities of Hillsong Church for quite some time here. We have shown you how Hillsong is steeped in Illuminati and New Age symbolism, their promotion of Chrislam, and how they had for many years an openly gay “couple” leading the choir at Hillsong NYC. But when someone sent us this video today, it shows that Hillsong has reached a new low in their adoration of emulating a lost and dying world.  Continue reading

Disappointing. Just where were the ‘nearly naked’ drummer boys?

Sickening! This does not honor the awesome and powerful name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. This is profaning His name!
But … this is the way of the contemporary emerging church movement that IS NOT Biblical in any sense.

What does Hillsong say in response to the outrage flooding the internet?

“This number is from a Christmas spectacular show that was designed as a theatrical production. It tells the story of the Magi on quest for the King’s Star. This piece is early on in the show and follows egomaniacal King Herod snapping his fingers and calling for “music!” It is supposed to make you cringe. It is supposed to have all the worldly excess of a Gatsby-style party which exposes that Herod is seeking Jesus for all the wrong reasons. Later in the show, there is a beautiful, meaningful (and traditional) version of Silent Night which contrasts with the aforementioned piece and makes the exact point that you are all making. The show ends with the attention firmly on Jesus Christ.

This video was not released by Hillsong, nor would this number ever be an item on its own. It has a narrative context where it makes sense, although of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Whether or not a theatrical experience is your cup of tea, it’s hard to argue with the tens of thousands of people who attend the show (35,000 in Australia alone), thousands of whom are entering a church environment of the first time and most importantly all those who made decisions to follow Jesus.”

        Hey Douglas,
Is there no end to the excuses for the goings-on @ Hillsong? It is immaterial how many attend your pagan festivals held weekly at all your locations. Is the Gospel preached? Please provide ONE piece of evidence that the Gospel was ever preached at any Hillsong anywhere in the world at any time. The Scriptures have done a more than adequate job of portraying the ungodly lives of the heathen present during our Lord’s life time. It is unnecessary and uncalled for to present this lewd production (half naked people, sexually explicit costumes, and lewd, sexually suggestive dancing) to anyone-such can be found anywhere. The real purpose of this disgraceful scene is to call up the fleshly lusts of those attending and make them believe that such thinking is not only permissible, but required in order to “understand” history. Simply put, this garbage only serves the lusts of the flesh and brings ABSOLUTELY NO GLORY TO GOD.

If this video were not released by Hillsong, then how is it that we can view it here today? If not for the whole world to see, why have there been no objections to it’s display here and elsewhere? Perhaps your statement was just another “mis-direction” to excuse your blatant disregard for Scripture and the insult this brings to the Lord Jesus. Please remember that we will all be judged by every word that we speak, type, or think.

        Douglas,

You state “who made decisions to follow Jesus” as though sinners come to Christ through pagan entertainment, or by their own power. No one makes a decision for Christ, for all are dead in sin {Eph. 2:1,5}, the natural man is spiritually discerned concerning spiritual matters {see 1 Cor. 2:14}. Repentance and believing are a command, not a choice. God is not present in pagan worship, and that is what this video represents. The accursed gospel that states man can choose to believe in Christ will steer multitudes down the broad road, causing them to trust in their ‘decision’ as a means of being saved. Sinners are saved by grace, God’s grace { Eph. 2:8-9} available only because Christ became a sin offering.

Remember this, not everyone who says Lord Lord will enter the kingdom. You must be born again, and this is not possible by or through man and his schemes, devices, methods, etc. It is a mighty, supernatural work of God the Spirit. May the Lord be gracious, may He gift you with eternal life.

If this took place in Dec. 2014, why is it just now being reported?

“Does Hillsong Church’s production in any way honor God? Um, no”

Praise the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness. Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe, praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God–this is your true and proper worship.

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees;[a] for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”
