Brian McLaren’s “new music for a new Christianity”

It’s called the “Convergence Music Project,” and it is the brainchild of Emergent/Progressive guru Brian McLaren in collaboration with The Center for Progressive Renewal and the Convergence Initiative.

Side note: If you are unfamiliar with McLaren (who calls the cross “cosmic child abuse“), or his Progressive alliance, click here to understand its mission (“new ways of doing theology”),  and its approach (“new kinds of faith communities, new approaches to worship and spiritual formation, new integrations and conversations and convergences and dreams.”)

With songs like “Faithfully Angry” (turning Psalm 58 into a social justice anthem), you’ll find lyrics like, “Transform our pain and use our rage…Deepen our love for the world as it is, as we demand that justice birth a change:”

Or how about Dream God’s Dream, a song by Bryan Sirchio, about us changing the world.
McLaren even writes and sings a song titled Spirit Running, which he describes as “a fun, joyful, upbeat song proclaiming the call to do justice and to care for and honor the earth.”  Audio here

The Convergence Music Project promises to create and offer new congregational music for progressive churches and congregations. Says the director for the “Center for Progressive Renewal” Cameron Trimble:

“So many of us have experienced boring, detached, lifeless worship services for far too long. I’m now convinced not only is that not necessary, it’s a terrible waste of energy and vision. ”

Trimble says the project envisions the creation of a “whole new canon of music, grown from within the progressive Church, representing a more “just and generous” Christianity,” with distribution channels  to churches across the world.

It’s bad enough we have to deal with the Hillsong and other strains of the repetitive “7 lines 11 times” infection that’s oozed into the church, but now we will have a whole other strain of the virus to deal with.

The church needs to look at itself as a hospital where broken people are made whole again, and aggressively root out every bit of invading disease. We’ve been far too tolerant and quiet for far too long. Time to break out the Lysol.

The key word with these heretics is always “just”………,, a more “just” Christianity, a more “just” bible, a more “just” anything except scripture, God and Jesus Christ. McLaren along with Warren, two of the most damaging wolves on the planet. These two men have done more to lead people stray than anyone else. Insidious and deceitful, they have no bounds, no morals, rotten to the core, diabolical. Worship is to honor God, not the Earth, not “justice”, not man, and mostly not the church, as false as the progressive church is. These will sing to and worship the antichrist. They’re interested in social justice, not Gid’s justice! Look at all the signs: Israel back in her place, sorrounded by her enemies wanting to destroy her, the most wicked and greatest APOSTASY in Christianity, the architecture of the revived Roman Empire seen in the EU, the power of Rome being wielded from the Vatican by a man who calls himself the VICAR OF CHRIST, vicar, vicarious, instead of, anti…….Antichrist! And yet many Christians can’t or won’t see this! He who has ears to hear! Remember those words! Take your bible and read! Pray unceasingly for your children, your family, for godly pastors, for the bride, pray even for those that would have us killed, perhaps God will show them mercy and it will go well with us! Pray that God will restrain some of the evil these leaders are capable of doing to the church!

What does anyone expect of Brian McLaren, who officiated in his own son’s homosexual marriage! What I don’t get is why does he call himself a Christian? I guess because the label has a marketing value!

We need to be writing our own songs really. That we will be happy with from a biblical perspective.

The lyrics of many songs used in the past were actual Bible verses in verbatim. That’s also a great way to memorize Scripture.

I think I will stick with classic hymns….songs that actually quote scripture, and aren’t so vague and powerless that the lyrics could be sung to either God or your girlfriend.

If he feels that the death of Jesus is cosmic child abuse, then why write so called worship music or call yourself a christian?
