No, we don’t focus on the Illuminati

From time to time, listeners ask us about some of the conspiracy theories out there – especially in the music industry. Specifically, they want to know about the Illuminati, secret societies or symbols like the all-seeing eye.

You’ll notice those pastors who are excellent at faithfully preaching the Word and protecting their flocks against various movements in the church aren’t focused on the Illuminati or practices of Wiccans, Druids, and Satanic cults unless they seep into churches. (But we do cover Freemasonry, an unbiblical group many Christians are into that does need to be exposed.)

While our ministry does not focus on the Illuminati,  plenty of other ministries do. (Check out our Resources tab to see what other ministries cover).

We do cover quite extensively the New Age and any occultic practice that makes its way into the visible Church.

That being said,  I agree with the facts presented in this article penned by the Sola Sisters*. what are your thoughts?

Christians, the Super Bowl and Rejecting Conspiratorial Thinking

Yes, the world is wicked. And yes, a lot of that in-your-face wickedness was on display, both visually and lyrically, in many ways during the 2015 Super Bowl half-time show. But please, let’s not go down the Illuminati rabbit hole. Exhibit A, an article from the dodgy, conspiracy-focused website called Now The End Begins, entitled: Ex-Christian Katy Perry Promotes Dark Magic and LGBT Agenda at 2015 Super Bowl Halftime Show.

The above article, which claims that various performers in the 2015 Super Bowl half-time show were openly broadcasting the intentions of the Illuminati and the New World Order, has been popping up in my Facebook newsfeed all day. For those who have never heard those terms before, the Illuminati and the New World Order are believed to be organizations in which Satan’s minions gather in secret to work his dark mischief, but Old Scratch will occasionally (it is believed) come out into the open and use his minions to broadcast his intentions to the world, which he does through various costumes and hand signals.  Beyonce making a triangle with her fingers during a stage performance was one widely quoted example of this, and so was Madonna’s half-time Super Bowl costume from a few years ago. What are these high level occultists supposed to be broadcasting? The code-breakers can’t quite figure it out, but they know Something Is Going On, what with All! Those! Symbols!

The Bible tells us to be as wise as serpents and as gentle as doves, so I think it is wise to be aware of the occult and the Illuminati and the symbols they use to communicate their message. Before discovering that, I never understood just how corrupt this world really is. This surely comes from the serpent. It doesn't seem wise to totally ignore it. I believe it gives us more wisdom to reject deception when we can recognize what is happening. What it shows me is that what evil people are working toward accomplishing is exactly what Bible prophecy says is going to happen in the end times. And its obvious that the world is being prepared to receive Satan and the antichrist. They are becoming bolder and more blatant in proclaiming their desires, drawing the deceived masses into their scheme to follow their plan. That brings encouragement to me that we are just drawing closer to the time when Jesus will call His people upward. So their plans will succeed according to God's will, but it will be on God's time frame. I just hope it is as soon as it appears to be. Come Lord Jesus.

I guess you can not believe in Africa…but it is still there.

No conspiracy should be the entire focus of anyone's ministry. And I don't personally know if any Biblical ministries out there that do spend their entire focus on conspiracy theories.
However, cults and secret societies do, in fact, exist, and many people are involved – knowingly or unknowingly. And our friends who do provide information, with solid evidence, about these things, are trying to help keep us informed with facts, instead of remaining ignorant about reality. Plus, what Christian doesn't want to know the truth in all arenas?
Are there extreme sides / organizations that try to look for symbols in literally every object? Sure. But that doesn't mean we throw out all ministries that provide information about conspiracies. There is much helpful info out there that we can use in a healthy way in conversations.
We make the truth of Scripture the main focus, and as much as possible, be informed of the truth in other areas.

Parents need to be wise to the messages that are actually contained in the cartoons their children are watching and the way in which their children are being indoctrinated with subtle and not so subtle images. Cartoons are not innocent entertainment. And that includes Disney. Its shocking what's going on out there.

    • standupwi February 3, 2015 at 1:26 pm #

Agreed. We don't focus on the Illuminati, but there are folks on our Resources page who do. Joe Schimmel over at Good Fight Ministries has a bunch of research for anyone who wants to dig in.

    • Renee February 20, 2015 at 2:08 pm #

I agree Sheryl! Seeing these symbols also helps us as parents in steering our children and grandchildren away from certain "Christian" and secular music, movies, groups and such. Being aware of the devil's tactics is not being immersed or obsessed. The New World order is not a new concept. It started in the garden with the serpent. It is the spirit of anti-christ that can be seen all throughout history.

Amen, Amy. There are real threats out there that do need our attention (things/people that deceptively try to lead us and others away from Jesus Christ, etc.), but conspiracy theories and the like do not fall into that category.

So what if Obama is a reptilian shape-shifter and Hillary Clinton is actually from the planet Polka Dot (population seven?). Oh, and what if the moon landing actually took place in my neighbor's garage? (BTW, I know someone who once knew someone who had a picture in which you could actually see a lawnmower next to Apollo 11, right there on the "moon.") Someone, boil me . . .

As children of God, we should have peace (no matter what is being "planned" or not) and hold fast to verses like John 16:33, 1 John 4:4, the great book of Revelation, and the entire Bible. Most of all, we should hold on to our Saviour, Jesus Christ. On His side, we have nothing to fear . . . not the "elite" and not a lawnmower.

I totally disagree with that article. I think it encourages people to take the ostrich approach. These things are real, just as conspiracies are real. I know enough about these things now to know that for myself. All of it is true and there are great websites out there exposing it. I don't feel we should get obsessed over it, just aware of the reality, not ignorant ostriches. Power is knowledge. Conspiracies are mentioned in the bible too, by the way. To deny their existence is folly and won't stop the ostrich whose head is buried in the sand from becoming lunch for a hungry predator. The whole world lies under the dominion of the devil until the return of the Lord. See 1 John 5; 19, Matthew 4, Luke 4, and Revelation.

    • Sheryl February 4, 2015 at 11:16 am #

That predator would be Satan going about seeking whom he may devour. And ignorance is allowing MANY to be devoured, thinking they're just being entertained. I agree with you and the boldness with which you made your profound point. Its simply wise for Christians to be informed and vigilant. Its all just more evidence pointing to the book of Revelation about to be unfolded.

Stephen, Thank-you for the laugh, your humor is remarkable! And your arrow hit the mark, in Christ alone, we have absolutely nothing to fear.

Thank-you Amy for pointing out Good Fight Ministries as a reliable source for truth regarding the media industry. Joe speaks from a place of personal experience while he was unsaved and living a lie, so it is joyfully wonderful to see the power of God, the Holy Spirit, working out his salvation while ministering to the rest of us sheep. It is most humbling to learn of such things as most of what we see and experience is not neutral concerning our spirituality, so Sheryl's Scripture reference "be as wise as serpents and gentle as doves" is perfect in addressing our response to illuminati/new age/occult issues. Praise our LORD for people who see.

    • Stephen February 4, 2015 at 11:03 am #

A huge sigh of relief from me, Roberta! Thanks, for a little while there I thought people were ganging up on me, and I seriously considered infecting another site with my humor.
Blessings! Yes, Jesus will get us through . . . He has promised!

  9. Joe February 8, 2015 at 12:53 am #

Conspiracy theory often becomes conspiracy fact because people focus on getting to the truth. A good example is who killed JFK. It's widely accepted now that Lee Oswald did not act alone…

    • Craig Giddens February 9, 2015 at 12:12 pm #

… not meaning to hijack the topic, but there is no creible evidence that Oswald even fired a shot … he was probably just what he said he was … a patsy …

Have you done any research on Sola Sisters? Here is a great rebuttal to her article you have posted above. This rebuttal is a youtube created by FaceLikeTheSun CHRISTIAN vs. CHRISTIAN: Rejecting Christian Conspiracy Theorists? http://youtu.be/3pBGBlh05lA

    • Janice March 10, 2015 at 7:05 am #

Yes, the guy behind FaceLikeTheSun is a huge conspiracy theorist, and a bad one at that (as they all are). Uses all the buzzwords, all the phrases, all the fear mongering tactics . . . "portals," UFOs," "Transhumanism," "Illuminati," etc. Oh, and it's always the "government" behind everything. You know, "they" and "them." Whoo.

Anyone who is serious about things should avoid FaceLikeTheSun and other like-minded sites (there are millions out there) like the plague they are. These sites contribute absolutely nothing constructive. These sites' main collective purpose is to cause fear and to try build a following of sorts.

Say, have you had your precious child inoculated against measles? Wow, then you've fallen for "their" lies, blah, blah and you might be one of "them." Please, grow up and stand on Jesus and His promises. Stay out of the gutters.

I have been a regular at Sola Sisters for several years and trust that Christine as good judgment on these issues. She came out of New Age herself so she knows better than most what the dangers are and does a good job of exposing it. She is right to warn about the conspiracy hunters as well because focusing on conspiracy theories takes our eyes off Christ and the gospel, and just fills us with fear and dread. Whether there is this huge conspiracy going on or not…the outcome of it all will be the same…Jesus is coming back soon and He gets the victory, defeating the enemy forever.

I know her personally as well, and she has a great head on her shoulders and a heart for the lost and deceived. Sometimes I think we can get so steeped in the details of evil in the world that we forget the Conqueror.

    Hi clanmcc-

I believe the disturbing performances and behavior in the music industry and Hollywood are satan at work, however, Sola is correct to warn the Body of Christ about getting too caught up with the conspiratorial crowd. A great deal of what is being peddled by these folks is not legitimate and some of it is ridiculous.
The problem this creates is that legitimate concerns regarding the New Age and demonic activity are swept out the door as being no different than the kooky stuff, therefore many are not taking the legitimate concerns seriously. We must pray for discernment in these troubled times.

    • @clanmcc5 March 10, 2015 at 10:11 am #

Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them Ephesians 5:11
Expose means to bring to the light, to proclaim Gods truth. This is a ministry for certain people in the body of Christ and I give them a lot of credit for the work that they are doing. The are exposing the works of darkness and this is an act of worship! Many of these people were themselves heavily involved in the occult so they can discern and see it and they know that there is a need for people involved in the occult to see the research they do.

Let us remember the connection: Romans 16:19-20 NKJV “…but I want you to be wise in what is good, and simple concerning evil. And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly.” And Philippians chapter 4. The devil fascinates. Look up the root meaning of that word!
