On the Chuck Missler partnership with “prophet” Kim Clement

A lot of Christians have been asking about a well-known Bible teacher, Pastor Chuck Missler. We’ve been aware of growing concerns being voiced from around the country over teachings, plagiarism and partnerships, including the pairing of Pastor Missler with New Apostolic Reformation “singing prophet” Kim Clement.

Who is Clement and why do we care that Missler is partnering with him? This is one of many video promotions from Clement’s site, in which he talks about his prophetic gifts – extra-biblical visions and knowledge he says God gave him directly to share with his massive audience:

The Discernment Research Group has released its findings about the pairing of Pastor Missler’s Koinonia Institute with Kim Clement. The article is lengthy and addresses many concerns, all footnoted and linked so that readers can examine and compare these events to Scripture as the Bereans did.

With permission, we’ve republished a snippet of the report with a link back to the entire article, originally posted at Herescope:

Kim Clement & Chuck Missler

The Merging of Muddy Waters

For the past few years, we have documented the ever-mystical leanings of notable Bible teacher and author, Chuck Missler, ultimately listing him among a group of evangelical teachers we’ve dubbed ‘Postmodern Prophecy Paradigm’ (PPP) leaders, because of their gravitation away from sound truth revealed in Scripture alone, coupled with their feverish efforts to re-fashion end-times prophecy to fit their extra-biblical speculations. We have written extensively and in detail of these seductive, morphing departures from the Word of God.[v] The end result has been a toxic mixture of truth and error—leading away from Christ and headlong into the occult.

Chuck Missler during a Q & A at Clement’s House of Destiny (HOD)

In recent years, Missler has been embroiled in several controversies related to his teachings dealing with Quantum Mysticism, Cryptic Bible Codes, and Nephilim False Eschatology. He has also been caught on more than one occasion in plagiarism.

In 2007, Missler drew yet another type of controversy when he appeared on the speaking platform with a group of NAR prophets, mystics, and teachers, for the Quantum Leap2 conference—co-sponsored by the extreme prophetic entity, TheElijahList.

It was therefore a curious thing to discover that NAR prophet Kim Clement had hosted Chuck Missler for a 3-day End Times Conference—beginning on January 9th of this year—desirous to “wash” in Missler’s “river” (see the first quote at the top of this post). On Day 2 of this conference, Missler announced to the energetic crowd present, and to his untold video audience, “we sense a real partnership emerging between Kim and myself”[xii] (see the bottom quote at the top of this post).

So, who is Prophet Kim Clement and what sort of partnership might this merge into?

So it seems Mr Missler inadvertently published material from someone else in his books… I’m sure all of us teachers can understand how easily done this is. I have dozens of notepads full of my own notes, as well as the words of other teachers. It is quite easy to imagine mistaking an old quote for my own writing.

But I am concerned to read people placing great importance on this matter. Really, what difference does it make? What does copyright and law have to do with the Kingdom of God? The Christians in the Bible shared everything they had, their land, their money. Everything we own is not our own, but property of God.

The concept of “plagiarism” is totally irrelevant in the Kingdom. If any brother claimed to be a Christian, but was upset by his brother repeating his words for a good cause, without “paying him”, such a man would surely be a fake Christian. Christians have no interest in money or “ownership” whatsoever. We are all part of the same Body of Christ, serving the same Master for the same cause with the same love of Christ and the love of each other. The idea that some brother may try to get CREDIT for something he wrote is a horrendous one. The Lord told us to do our good works secretly and not to seek credit.

As a Christian teacher and author, if I discovered that some other man had taken my words and passed them off as my own, even deliberately so, it would not bother me in the slightest. I would only be happy that my teaching was being propagated. I am not building my own Kingdom – I am building the same kingdom as every other true Christian, so if he is using my work to build it then he is working for me.

As for credit, I am not seeking the approval of men, only God, and any Christian who is seeking the approval of men is most certainly a false Christian who has never been humbled and crucified the flesh.

It is not as though I am trying to defend Mr Missler here, only to say how concerning it is when Christians obsess over trivialities such as copyright laws. That is not a spiritual mindset.

As for Mr Missler, frankly I do not think he is born again, and it gives me no pleasure to say so. But I have heard many concerning teachings coming from his ministry and some worrying testimonies which suggest that Mr Missler is not of the Holy Spirit.

But the last thing any Christian ought to be concerned about is whether someone is breaking some law. We are not governed by laws! We are governed by the Holy Spirit, who fills us with the knowledge of righteousness (see 1 Corinthians 2). We do not take our brothers to court, since we have been given the power to judge all things, having the mind of Christ.

What concerns me about Mr Missler is not whether he is law abiding, but the gospel he preaches. That is the basis of whether a teacher is genuine or false: his gospel. Other things such as views on Nephilim or Quantum Theory, they are wholly irrelevant, being trivial matters. But Paul said if any man preaches any other GOSPEL, let him be accursed. It is the Gospel which matters, and it is perversion of the Gospel which destroys man and makes false converts.

From what I can gather, Mr Missler’s Gospel is all about “accepting Jesus” (a gospel which is not found in the Bible). His gospel seems to have nothing to do with repentance and obedience to Christ (which is constantly preached in the Gospels). Thus I do not believe Mr Missler has ever entered into the Kingdom, and in fact he seems to admit to still being carnal, like so many false Christians do. But those who are in Christ are no longer slaves to sin but have now been set free (Rom 8:2), and cannot go on sinning (1 John 3:9, Hebrews 10:26).

Are you trying to say that carelessness should not be reproved? From the evidence I saw here,(https://herescope.blogspot.com/search?q=missler) I rather doubt that even carelessness could explain whole paragraphs lifted from another’s work. There is absolutely no excuse for such “carelessness.”

Saddens me to read this. I was away from the Lord for a time and among the reasons leaving the faith was constant attacks of one church against another and here I am wanting to return and read this. Whatever I guess the church will always be calling other non believers and only Jesus will know for sure

So if I understand this correctly…. Kim Clement came across Chuck’s teachings, realized his error, contacted Chuck to ask to be taught, publicly repented of his wrongdoings, Salvation, prophecy, rapture, Israel, etc and sought to be mentored in the ways that are right. Chuck agreed to help, which is why he ‘admired’ Kim. And all of that makes Chuck a bad guy?

    • Edna Watson June 17, 2020 at 4:12 am #

Chuck loved Kim for his humility… A proud man wouldn’t acknowledge his transgression away from Truth… Is it dad Christian attacks Christian in the name of God! I have up on church a long long time ago… In fighting, covering up sexual sin, … But I love Jesus and tell others about Him. Chuck was a good man… He is in glory and so is Kim…

  4. Hannah December 19, 2016 at 8:52 am #

IMHO, Chuck is quoting the Bible and only explains it.

  5. Silvio Angelo December 22, 2016 at 1:12 pm #

Lol……you Protestants all in-fight and quarrel calling each other false teachers and refer to St. Paul’s scriptures on this.
There’s 44,000 denominations and you’re all in disagreement and writing criticism online.
For a start there’s only ONE ORIGIBAL TRUE CHURCH and that’s the Catholic church, how’s that for some grounding for you all !
And the Bible was put together by the Catholic Church.
You all need to come back to the Catholic Church, and if you think there’s something you disagree with, all of you can debate and hold councils to decide, instead of believing your separate opinions and running off to start another church that didn’t come from Jesus and was left in the hands of the Apostles.

    • Manny1962 December 22, 2016 at 3:28 pm #

Can you name the “44,000” denominations? Can you name how they are different enough to nullify scripture? Do you mean the original church before or after Constantine made it the official state religion? Also, the papacy and it’s so called unbroken lineage to Peter, when it was located in France and there were two popes? Which faction ? In fighting? You think it’s a “protestant” trait? Go back and read secular history and how comoeting popes spewed anathemas at each other or how many different bishops had their own cliques….

Or how about today, the RCC has high ranking members which openly support homosexuality, and some don’t…….But for unity’s sake that’s swept under rug? The institute overrides all else. Mr. Angelo, you’ll find that many so called “protestants” protest the dilution of Scripture, the embrace of sin, the rampant defection from the word of God. We protest anything and anyone who twists scripture to accommodate perversion, sin, blasphemy and compromise and here’s the qualifier: and they call themselves brothers in Christ.

    • Edna Watson June 17, 2020 at 4:07 am #

Sadly the Catholic church is evil, antigod, child sex abuse is rife, covered by by the pope and his cardinals… Purgatory does exist and to too it all you worship Mary !! Jesus is the ONLY way…relationship rather than religion!

    • Steve October 16, 2020 at 3:10 am #

Well if Catholics did put the Bible together they certainly arent following what it says. Where is purgatory mentioned in the Bible? Why are their priests, mere sinful men forgiving others sin when Jesus is the High Priest who died for our sins and now intercede for us? Why is catholicism bent on a works based salvation when Christ paid for it in full and says you can do nothing to save yourself. I just mentioned doctrines of the Catholic church that damn people. These are major breaches of doctrine portrayed in Scripture. These aren’t opinions on minor stuff that is up for speculation, but life or death need to believe this or else kind of stuff. Only trusting I’m Him alone to save you. Forget Catholicism and Protestantism. What does the WORD OF GOD say?

  6. Tom Franseen January 18, 2017 at 4:14 pm #

I just read your ‘beliefs’ and I guarantee you that Chuck Missler would agree 100% with them, but for some reason, you people are consumed with a desire to find the chinks in the armor of all those who don’t agree exactly with you. You appear to me to be representing yourselfs as the ‘perfection’ police. Do you believe in sinless perfection? You call it ‘discernment’ – which is a convenient term for you to use – but in reality, you exhibit an un-Biblical critical spirit and attitude toward other brothers and sisters in Christ. One person above said in the response section said that he doubts that Missler is even saved? Seriously? These are the kind of non-thinking people you attract? I have listened and watched many, many materials from Misser over the last 20 years, and I can testify that he is solid doctrinally. I have read the Bible through about 20 times now and studied it much. Have you? Are you perfect? Is he? Of course not. Am I? No. Does everyone have to agree with you and your sometimes controversial interpretations of Scripture? No. Why do you hold other christians to this man-made ridiculous standard of perfection? We won’t be perfect until we see Christ face-to-face. Yes, we are to have discernment, but not the kind you teach. Even Paul said that he could exist and live in the same world as those believers that criticized his own work, because the Gospel was going forth. That was a mature attitude. You could learn from that. Will there be anyone in Heaven but you and your followers? Aparently not, if you all are in charge. Hmmmm…

  7. Steven Henderson April 5, 2017 at 9:41 am #

can’t we all get along? I’ve heard this said many times thru my 54 years, and has probably been said many times prior to my 54 years. none of us are perfect, only you yourselves know what you each hold in your hearts, as well as the good Lord himself knows what is in each and every one of our hearts. I don’t claim to be in any denomination or claim one is better or more knowledgeable than the other, I simply read and try to understand what Jesus was teaching as if he himself was in front of me teaching. yes he does say there will be those who will say “there he is, or he is over here, but I only try to focus on the Lord himself and not a human man, whether he is teaching truly from the Holy scriptures, or his on personal view I cannot tell you not my job to judge, that job is for one, and we all know who that is. What were the two greatest commandments that all the others hinge on? 1) LOVE THE LORD THY GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, ALL YOUR SOUL, ALL YOUR MIND, AND ALL YOUR STRENGTH 2) LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOU WOULD LOVE YOURSELF.

  8. Jason July 20, 2019 at 10:23 am #

Oh please. ‘The Lord says I cannot do it unfortunately as I am stuck with one leader’. If there is any proof needed of how false this prophesy is, there it is! What’s worse though is him saying God died once before but won’t die again. This is utter mockery and it is disgusting. Out of interest, God’s word talks of a great deception and falling away in the end times, not an awakening. http://www.churchunitydeception.com

The Truth is not a spectacle…and the discernment of Truth comes from within by the power of the Holy Spirit. Humbly pray for wisdom and guidance.

One thing I appreciate about Missler is his strong declaration that these are his views, that other views are fine, and that their advocates are solid, honorable Christians. I also find him to be extremely willing to acknowledge so many of his thoughts as conjecture on his part. That is very honest, imho.

Now, we must distinguish between discussing ideas and plagiarism. Lifting entire paragraphs word for word from someone is plagiarism. Discussing the theory of relativity is not plagiarism. Articles can be protected; ideas cannot be. In fact, suggesting an idea is opening it up for discussion and “fair use”.

Moses also made a mistake and He is saved
Be careful. Chuck reads from the scriptures when he teaches and He teaches Christ is the Messiah and was killed for us then raised up and the bible says He cannot say that without the Holy Spirit. Chuck is a Christian, washed in the blood of the lamb so YHWH will not judge him. I suggest we all stop with the arrogance prompting us to believe we should step in and judge Mr Missler on behalf of YHWH and Christ when they tell us they won’t because Chuck accepted Christ as His Messiah.
People we are humans. We make mistakes. Miserable men that we are! As Paul says. Give a fellow Christian a break. And stop judging and START TEACHING CHRIST IS THE MESSIAH WHO DIED FOR US AND WAS RAISED UP…LIKE CHUCK DID!!!

I do not see Berean scholarship, but instead I see legalism, pure and simple. If you truly listened to the totality of Missler, instead of peacemeal quoting, you would find that most of your accusations are wrong. When someone, like Chuck Missler. creates volumes of scholarly work, it is easy to cherry pick, to find that occasional thing that meets your definition of error, mostly taken out of context. It is akin to calling someone a heretic because they stood on the same stage as Billy Graham, such poppycock. Satan is tearing apart the church and these are the things you are fighting about, so sad.
