Jesus Calling: Whitewashing the Red Flags

What if you are a major publisher like Thomas Nelson and you suddenly discover that your  mega best-selling book Jesus Calling was inspired by a channeled New Age book? And what if you find out that some of the “messages” your author “received” from her “Jesus” weren’t really from Jesus because they contradict what the real Jesus Christ says in the Bible? Do you deal honestly with these problems with your millions of readers?  Or, do you protect your multi-million dollar franchise by whitewashing the red flags?

The brand new special 10th anniversary edition of Jesus Calling has undergone a sudden, miraculous “transformation,” without any explanation from the publisher or the author.

Want proof?  Warren Smith, a former New Ager who wrote the book, Another Jesus” Calling: How False Christs are Entering the Church through Contemplative Prayer,” has just published a new 16-page tract, Changing “Jesus Calling”—Damage Control for a False Christ.  Warren is here with us today, and we’re going to give away 10 of those pamphlets in the next segment.

If you’ve never heard my original interview with Warren about Jesus Calling, you’ll want to take some time and listen to: Which “Jesus” is calling? An interview with Warren Smith. It’s an interview that many of our listeners have shared widely with their loved ones.

Warren spent many years in the New Age practicing the very types of spiritual exercises put forth by Contemplative Prayer proponents. He knows full well that not every experience is from God but in fact can be from familiar, seducing spirits. Warren and his wife Joy have committed their lives to Jesus Christ and to warning others about the false christs that are deceiving masses of people and coming in the name of the true Jesus Christ.

Chuck Norris wears a Warren B. Smith T-shirt. Great work, Warren.

Excellent. I will pass that along.

    Not having been there to witness the works and words of the one now called “Jesus of Nazareth” first hand, and even then uncertain exactly the meaning of his statements, it is impossible to know. If one uses Constantine’s Bible as a guide to the works and words of Jesus, this one will continue to remain in blissful ignorance subject to the interpretation of others;

The Bible says we can know God through His breathed-out Word. I removed the link to your site, which is actually Gnostic humanism and not Christan at all. Please read the Bible and ask the Lord to open your eyes to the Truth of Christ.

You are so much more enlightened than this humble man who reads his bible. I think maybe
I should go back and read the book of Judas an Mary Magdalene and maybe even watch The DaVinci Code so I won't be led by others' interpretations. Oh wait, I guess I'll just stick with what God says and not what the rest of the intellectuals tell me to think. Sorry for the sarcasm, but I guess I just had enough being called a simpleton by the so called smart folk….

Sarah Young's use of first person is just a rhetorical device. It seems that what she's doing is giving insight into the meaning of Scripture and its application to you, She's unfolding Scripture's meaning by the way that she's rephrasing and explaining and elaborating on the existing content.

A paraphrase is a perfectly valid form of scriptural interpretation. (More important, it's one that fits well with Young's Reformed Theology.)

Young's listening is no different from a preacher who prays over a passage of Scripture and then preaches on what he believes God is saying.

Her writing is based on what she has read in Scripture and through prayer. If you really get into Scripture and let it speak to you and come with a willing spirit, the Spirit will speak to your heart.

So, if all Christians agree that it is normative for God to speak, the disagreement is merely over method. The Bible promises that God speaks through the Scriptures. But that doesn't confine God to speaking only through the written Word.

God is going to speak however he chooses. At the same time, we know God is personal and is very clear in Scripture that "My sheep hear My voice."

If we really believe, as the early Christians did, that Jesus is the fulfillment of Deuteronomy 18:15 [The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him], the task is to be silent and listen to the Lord. There's nothing mysterious about it.

"What I tell (speak) you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear (listen) whispered in the ear, proclaim on the housetops." (Matthew 10:27)

Jeremiah was told by God, "Take a scroll and write on it all the words I have spoken to you…" (Jeremiah 36:2)

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever." (Hebrews 13:8)

Unfortunately, this "Jesus" that this wolf Young is selling, is not the Jesus who died on a cross; the Son of God. She willingly channeled a demon, willingly sold this diabolical nonsense, and now willingly trying to cover up this demonic "book," first person narrative or not. Her "inspiration" (among other things) was/is "God Calling," another demon channeling session. How much clearer do you want it? Warren Smith and thousands of others have seen through this ungodly mess. Praise the Lord!

I suggest you have your resident occult "expert" (Mr. Smith?) contact "Ruth's Attic Bookstore" run by the Billy Graham family since they sell Sarah Young's book. I prefer to trust in the Graham family's wisdom than having a former occultist tell me the only voice we can hear will be a demon's voice. God gave Satan the ability to speak, not the other way around. The entire scriptures from Genesis to Revelation involve listening to the voice of the God the Father.
"I will keep watch (be still) and see what He will speak to me." (Habakkuk 2:1)

"Graham family's wisdom."? A massive contradiction there!

So you prefer to trust a pedophile (Graham)?? WOW!

Those coming out of the occult and “new age” movement are uniquely qualified to recognize and point out “new age” mysticism. Yeshua Himself said, “24For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders that would deceive even the elect, if that were possible. 25See, I have told you in advance.” (Matthew 24:24-25).

“But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.” (2 Peter 2:1)

Peter, John, Matthew were all with Yeshua for 3 years. They lived with Him, walked with Him, listened to Him, and saw the miracles, signs and wonders He performed. John warns us at the end of Revelation the consequences of adding or taking away anything from the book:

      “Nothing May Be Added
18I testify to everyone who hears the words of prophecy in this book: If anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. 19And if anyone takes away from the words of this book of prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.

20He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!

21The grace of the Lord Jesusd be with all the saints.e

      Amen.f” Revelation 22:18-21

By claiming the Yeshua is speaking to her and giving her prophecies, Ms. Young is adding to the book. She is walking a very wide very dangerous path and the Enemy is ready to welcome her.

Yeah, well, Billy Graham agreed with Robert Schuler that non-believers can go to heaven. The Yeshua of whom “#Consciousness Shift” isn’t sure said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. NO ONE (emphasis mine) comes to the Father but through Me.” I’ll trust Yeshua before I trust any man–or woman.
