Will Christians be snookered by Shemitah?

Screen Shot 2015-08-26 at 1.13.34 PMWhen I saw some recent headlines over at Charisma News like, Keeping the Shemitah Produces Supernatural Results, and, Why Jonathan Cahn’s Prophetic ‘Mystery of Shemitah’ Is Flying off the Shelves, I thought, “what is Shemitah, and why is Jonathan Cahn writing a new book about it?” It wasn’t until this morning that I saw a link to Sid Roth’s show, “It’s Supernatural,” in which Roth interviews Cahn that I began to feel the hairs on the back of my neck rising again. It wasn’t the first time I’d had that reaction to Roth, and Frankly Rabbi Cahn as well, as you’ll see by reading the Related Articles link at the end of this report.

Roth’s interview starts out this way:

Jonathan called me the other day and he said, “Sid, God has given me a revelation. I call it the Mystery of the Shemitah and it’s so big that it affects everything we as a people are personally doing and will affect the rise and fall of the United States of America. You know, the bestselling book, “The Harbinger,” which heeds a warning of judgments, they’re reappearing again. There’s nine of them. But one of the ones that is reappearing is the understanding and the revelation of a biblical term called the Shemitah.

At which point Cahn goes on to describe his extra-biblical revelation about the seven-year cycle of Shemitah, which he says begins September 25 and will result in God shaking the economy and possibly even causing famine in America:

Jesus said for us to look for the signs of the times of His return. The emphasis is not on the signs or on some obscure religious practice, but on Him. I am very concerned that yet another book by someone who is hearing God’s voice will point Christians away from God’s Word and become distracted by a man who is a self-proclaimed prophet. The prophets have spoken and yet we let our Bibles collect dust while we chase after modern-day authors.

  1. Christians are lovers of falsehood, proud, arrogant, and their God is Paul of Tarsus. They don’t even call Messiah by his name (Yeshua), but by an invocation of Zeus. They k ow nothing about creator, but war-ship a false deity. The wrath of God is coming for most if them, but the innocent ones Creator will spare. They even cast out the messengers of God, preferring the lie, for pride and advantage. Woe unto you!!!!

    1. Yes tones of Christians (I’m also a Christian) does worship paul, and their pastor over Jesus and don’t even realize it.
They follow tradition, they misinterpret Paul and believe in that over the clear word of Jesus, and they also follow their beloved pastor over the Bible.

I believe most christians don’t in the Shemitah because their pastor didn’t tell them or don’t believe in it.

The problem with Christians is they need to follow the Bible over man, and walk in self-denial love towards all men and God, that’s what Jesus would want.

  2. Can never once dismissed the sovereignty of God. He said that ultimately God is not obligated to follow the same pattern that has happened before. Seeing that the Jewish people are God’s chosen, obviously their calendar would be all the more considered.we didn’t have a stock market crash yesterday as it was Elul in Israel yesterday. Regardless, it will likely happen shortly. His books are not scripture. We still have a bit of time in this Shemitah. Pray for prosperitya and blessings.

  3. Cahn has “snookered” some of the most discernable people that I know. Even post Shemitah (and yes it IS over) he still has them “Cahned,” even protecting him and assisting in the back peddling. Damage done to the church. We need to look to God’s word breathed for His signs and not smell the foul breath of greed-centered embellishments.

  4. Contradict yourself much 🙂

You said… “Jesus said for us to look for the signs of the times of His return. The emphasis is not on the signs or on some obscure religious practice, but on Him.”

This guy is simply noticing God’s pattern that He works by from the beginning of His covenant with man in showing how bad things come forth when man quits allowing the Lord to be their God and abide in God’s commandments.

Jesus did in fact say we should know the “season” (not the exact day) of His return so we are focused on Him as we notices the signs of the times as laid out by scripture in which the Lord gave us many markers to know when we will be in the season (not the exact day) of His return to catch away His faithful.

Some of you guys get in the ditch in your zeal to point out false teachers (which of course is needful) that makes you just as bad as the false teachers you seek to expose.

Is it not time to get on the straight and narrow???
