AOG Leader George O. Wood joins New Age Sympathizer Leonard Sweet at Luther 2017

George Wood Luther 2017“Another Step Toward Rome?” asks Lighthouse Trails in regard to an upcoming Luther 2017 conference.  I will share a snippet of that report (and urge you to go read the entire article there), but first – caution. You may decide to share this on your social media accounts and find that there are some who will become over-the-top defensive and willing to overlook what is a continuing pattern of red flags with Assemblies of God Supt. George O. Wood.  I myself have landed in hot water with angry pastors simply by sharing reports of Mr. Wood’s ecumaniacalism with Mormons a few years back. (More links below)

My co-hort Marsha West has additional information for our readers:

Dr. George Wood caught flack when he and Oral Roberts University President Billy Wilson co-chaired the ecumenical gathering Empowered21 Global Congress . Many well-known New Apostolic Reformation/Dominionists (NAR) leaders were featured at the event. For those unfamiliar with the NAR, check out our White Paper on this dangerous cult. In a nutshell, the NAR teaches that God is restoring the lost offices of church governance, namely the offices of prophet and apostle. Among the speakers at E21 were self-proclaimed NAR “Prophetess to the Nations” Cindy Jacobs and “apostle” Bill Johnson of Bethel “Church” in Redding CA. We reported on E21 here, here, here, here and here.

Folks may ask, “Is it a crime to appear on stage with someone?” Guilt by association doesn’t mean much, unless there is a continuing pattern, and unless it’s more of an affiliation than a simple six-degrees-of-separation appearance.  In this case, consider that Leonard Sweet is the conference organizer. And no, Wood never did share the Gospel with the young Mormon students.

Now on to the LHT article:

Assemblies of God Leader Dr. George Wood Joins New Age Sympathizer Leonard Sweet at Luther 2017 (Another Step Toward Rome?)

“Dr. George Wood, General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God denomination, is scheduled to share the platform with New Age sympathizer Leonard Sweet next year in Berlin, Germany at an event called Luther 2017.

Dr. Wood was the subject of several Lighthouse Trails articles in 2013 for his promotion of contemplative teacher Ruth Haley Barton and the invitation by AOG to have Barton speak at a women’s gathering during the AOG General Conference held that year. See our special report “Assemblies of God “Believe” Conference Makes Bold Move – Brings in Contemplative Key Player Ruth Haley Barton” for background on this story. We also did a follow up story to show when Assemblies of God issued a response defending the Barton invitation: Lighthouse Trails Statement to Assemblies of God Response Regarding Invitation of Ruth Haley Barton.”

Leonard Sweet is actually a co-host for Luther 2017. Given his propensities toward New Age/New Spirituality thinking, his organizing participation will no doubt bring this thinking to the Luther 2017.”

    Hello Amy,

I’m not surprised, the ecumenical movement is a well planned and financed move by Rome, it’s been going on for decades and as Protestantism became more liberal and apostate it felt comfortable with Rome. Remember all those so called summits in the 90s pushing for “unity?” Movements such as Evangelicals and Catholics Together, which contained a clause which forbade Evangelicals from evangelizing Catholics and vice versa. The list of so called “evangelicals” that signed that abomination was jaw dropping. What was good about the document, it showed who was a “quiet” apostate all along, the least they expected was the backlash. It’s been 22 years, does anyone even remember, or care? Like I always say, this is part and parcel of The Great Apostasy playing out before our eyes, it will get much worse, I’m expecting a wholesale falling away, even from some that we think are the bedrock of Christianity today. Read up on Lausanne , “The original Lausanne conference brought together 2,700 Christian religious leaders from over 150 countries dawns called by a committee headed by BILLY GRAHAM of the United States.”
This has been a long time coming, as they say all roads lead to Rome, the city that’s it’s on seven hills, who commits adultery with the kings of the earth, the Scarlett beast and the harlot that rides upon it. Rome is building her “coalition” it includes apostate Churchianity, Chrislam, Wicca, Spiritism, Anamisn and all the “ism” demonic religions throughout the world. You will be hated for His name’s sake, we know what’s coming! Maranatha!

Speaking of Lausanne, here is a good article on the 3rd Lausanne Conference in Cape Town in 2010, and it lists those Christians in attendance and on the Council of Reference,:
    https://www.discerningtheworld.com/2010/10/17/the-3rd-lausanne-congress-opens-in-cape-town-16-oct-2010/
The first part is a news article from the mainstream Christian media about the conference. Read on however to see list of those in attendance and the author’s interpretation of what Lausanne “really” is (which is very different from as described in news article).
