In his newsletter, Matthew Vines, author of God and the Gay Christian and founder of The Reformation Project (to reform biblically-based churches to accepting homosexuality and gay marriage), wrote this:
Pretty amazing news: Yesterday, evangelical leader Tony Campolo announced his support for “gay Christian couples” in the church, changing his position in a moving statement on his website after many years.
And then this morning, the work of The Reformation Project made the front page of the nation’s paper of record, The New York Times. The headline of the landmark article: “Evangelicals Open Door to Debate on Gay Rights.”The work is far from over, but for a single day, that’s some remarkable momentum for this cause. Thank you to all of our allies, both old and new, and to our many dedicated co-laborers in this movement whose critical work continues make these kinds of breakthroughs possible.
In reading the New York Times piece, we see some interesting strategies from Vines. First, his meetings with Christian leaders are almost always private, one-on-one affairs. He has talked with small groups of pastors in Phoenix and Nashville and shared his story over coffee or lunch in places like Atlanta; Chicago; Orlando, Fla.; Portland, Ore.; and Greenville, S.C. If he can soften hearts and hard soil with his earnestness, his niceness, and his ability to make worldly reason sound so right, then he has gained a foothold.
He also visited the campus of Focus on the Family in February, and talked with more than 20 staff members about the psychic and spiritual damage inflicted on young gay Christians by ministries like Focus. Says the Times: “The organization kept the encounter quiet until now because it did not want to be perceived as wavering in its stance.”
You mean like compromising the truth of God’s Word? Having nothing to do with falsehood?

Another strategy: Vines knows he can’t win (yet) in the big arena of the Church. But he can do this:
The first step in changing churches would be to identify the “silent sympathizers” and encourage them to speak up.So in the meeting at Biola, Mr. Vines was on the lookout for just one silent sympathizer.

I do not believe Campolo “changed” his view. Any more than Obama and Biden did. They have always been leftists. These incremental gains will reach full flower soon, as Christian leaders in America like Andy Stanley mainstream this agenda.
Right, they are ‘coming out of the closet’ in many ways with the apostasy of today. It was on the drawing board all along. Down to the plan by the real bigots to call us that, who hold to the traditional biblical view. The bible clearly teaches that all homosexual acts are sin, even an abomination. See:

The holocaust started in the same way. They started by silencing the churches. Most remained silent to save their flesh. The few that resisted were of course persecuted. Various strategies were implemented, slowly, applying pressure such as loss of benefits to procure the compliance of the churches. The rest of society acquiessed, and the rest is history and today people wonder how the holocaust could have happened. It happened when people don’t stand up for their convictions because they are too busy ‘surviving’ by keeping their jobs, funding, and safety intact while others die at the hands of murderers. If you deny Jesus, He will deny you. Matthew 10; 33. So stay true and steadfast to Jesus and the Christian faith in both word and deed, including the bible verses mentioned above.
These folks are not members of the true church of Jesus Christ, sinners who’ve been born again by God and elected unto eternal life- who daily battle to mortify sin, strive for holiness, and to enter through the narrow gate. These are the ones used by Satan to build the counterfeit church that disguises itself as ‘Christian’. Examine the fruit, it is rotten. The tree is rotten. VInes is NOT a ‘gay Christian’, he is a unregenerate sinner still in the bondage of his perversion and he will face eternal punishment if God doesn’t save him. Focus on the family has it’s own set of problems and shouldn’t take the name of Christ on their lips either. Campolo is who the Apostle Paul meant when he said, ‘ And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.’ 2 Cor. 11:14-15
Flee all this garbage for none of it is from God. These are lost sinners who’ve created a god that accepts their abominations, a god that is fashioned in their own minds and looks just like them. They do NOT know the God of the bible.
God would never condone the throwing away of a child’s mom or dad for the selfish gratification of “adults”. I simply cannot believe all the people who are willing to throw children under the bus. We all have mothers and fathers, most have siblings. We have aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents. All of these people make up our FAMILY. Ultimately, what is more important than our families?
