Christian meditation apps, such as Dwell, contain unbiblical and potentially spiritually dangerous methods such as Lectio Divina, breathwork, ecumenism, and monastic mysticism.
Doreen Virtue compares audio clips of her pre-salvation New Age meditations to the meditations on Dwell, so you can hear the similar hypnotic induction techniques:
If you’re not following Virtue, she is a wealth of information about how the New Age is deceiving the Church. Here, she warns of the Dwell app’s Roman Catholic mysticism, as promoted by the creator and founder, Jonathan Bailey. Here is a snippet of his beliefs:
Marcia Montenegro of Christian Answers for the New Age wrote warnings about Dwell here, and points out that one of the major influencers of the creators for the app content is contemplative Richard Foster, whom we’ve warned about here, here, here, and here.

Says Montenegro,
Once again, Scripture is misused. “Pray without ceasing” (First Thessalonians 5:17) is not about praying every second, or using the breath as a means of prayer. The idea of this is to always be ready to pray, to have an attitude of prayer, to not be discouraged in prayer. It is about being aware of one’s ability and desire to petition and thank God anywhere, anytime. “Synchronizing the soul’s deepest yearnings with every inhale and exhale” does not rest on any biblical principle. The idea of “creating a rhythm” of prayer with the breath is part of Contemplative teachings rooted in mysticism and in Eastern spiritual practices that idolize the breath.

Neither of the two endorsements above should come as a surprise. Matt Chandler promotes the occultic Enneagram from his pulpit, and Voskamp has a very interesting romanticized version of Jesus – a false Jesus, that is.
