Popular Charismatic Worship Artist, Kari Jobe, Teaching Dangerous Theology

Why was Kari Jobe invited to lead worship for Women of Faith, an event that draws thousands of women? When you read the lyrics to some of Jobe’s songs, you’ll realize that the words are blasphemous….and you’ll want to repent if you ever uttered those words.  Three of Kari Jobe’s songs are featured on the hit CD, Women of Faith Presents Gateway Worship a Collection. So if you own the CD, consider tossing it in the trash.

But this is not about Women of Faith; it’s about contemporary “Christian” music and professing Christians who write and perform it, some of whom are at best biblically illiterate and at worst wolves in sheep’s clothing.

Read Jeff Maples’ story and weep…

Kari JobeIt’s never-ending. The apostasy, the lack of discernment, the gullibility. How can anyone who proclaims the name of Jesus Christ not recognize the dismal state of the professing church? Words cannot even begin to describe the how far away the church is from Christ in these days. The attractions, the concerts, the conferences. People joining hands with those teaching for shameful gain things they ought not to teach. This is not revival, but the falling away in it’s most deceptive and extreme form–a form of godliness that denies its power.

Tickets go on sale in May for Outcry Tour 2016. The music festival will be held in several cities around the nation, and features some of the most lauded names in “worship.” The groups include Hillsong, Kari Jobe, Rend Collective, Housefires, Urban Rescue, Chad Veach, and none other than Elevation Worship.

Now, I’m not exactly sure who these people are worshiping, but it isn’t Jesus. Yet, thousands of Christians are blindly sending their children to partake in this evil.

In the Charismatic Evangelical church, there is a movement known as the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR). It is a movement that elevates experience above doctrinal truth. Often times you will see many with contradictory beliefs about the basic tenets of Christianity come together in prayer and worship. This is the driving force behind this modern worship scene that’s creeping into once solid churches.

Hillsong United is among the most deceitful and subversive worship music movements. Hillsong music is popular, and is played throughout even some of the most theologically solid churches, deceptively luring people away from doctrinal truth and into an experiential form of idolatry that removes Jesus as the sole object of worship, and places the emphasis on ear-tickling lyrics and music that draws on people’s emotions. Read more about them here.

But another of Outcry’s featured singers, Kari Jobe, is also a popular musician being promoted in churches, especially to our youth. Jobe, out of seeker-sensitive NAR Robert Morris’ Gateway church, is known for popular songs like I Am Not Alone, and Love Came Down. She is also under the leadership of Gateway’s NAR Apostle and elder, Jack Hayford, author of the song Majesty, which teaches the heretical “Kingdom Now” theology. However, she is one of those who are teaching for shameful gain things she ought not to teach (Titus 1:11).

One of her most popular songs, Forever, published by Bethel Music (the same outfit that produced Jesus Culture), contains some really aberrant theology. Besides the fact that she’s a female pastor in a church, her theology alone should be enough to disqualify her as a teacher. Below is a sample of her lyrics:

One final breath He gave
As heaven looked away
The Son of God was laid in darkness
A battle in the grave
The war on death was waged
The power of hell forever broken

Then, In an interview about her song, Forever, she said,

My favorite part of the whole thing is … we talk about the death on the cross and we talk about the resurrection, but that time in between was when Jesus was in hell rendering hell. And ransacking hell. And defeating the enemy – taking those keys to death and hell and the grave to be victorious over that when he rose from the dead.

Blasphemy is always more palatable with a catchy melody, good instrumentation and a pretty voice. It will be defended by those who like the sound of the song and/or the artist. After all, good intentions are what matter most in one’s theology.

And as a bonus, if the song only uses second person pronouns, it can double as a love song to one’s boyfriend without having to change any of the words.

  2. Faith May 7, 2016 at 3:39 pm #

This brings up an interesting point. Yes, Jack Hayford is a leading wolf ecumenical with Rome and many such things are underway and afoot in the area of apostasy. And there are many, many songs that can be dissected, analyzed, and found wanting. Songs about dominionism like ‘we bring in the kingdom’ in the lyrics, when; No, we don’t, Jesus does. And songs about breathing (contemplative), songs about how okay it is to stray away, we can never ‘go too far,’ and the like, ecumenism, etc. But I remember this song from a long time ago and looked at the lyrics again, and placed them below for analysis.

    Majesty
    Worship His majesty
    Unto Jesus be all glory,
Honor and praise (Okay, no problems there)

    Majesty
    Kingdom authority
    Flow from His throne
    Unto His own
His anthem raise (see analysis below)
    (2x)

So exalt, lift up on high
    The name of Jesus
    Magnify, come glorify
Christ Jesus the King (no problems with this either)

    Majesty
    Worship His majesty
    Jesus who died, now glorified
King of all kings (that’s all good too…)
    (2x)

So let’s look at this part again, since that must be the part in question:
    Kingdom authority
    Flow from His throne
    Unto His own

First, we must distinquish between the kingdom that Jesus brings at His return, when He restores all things worldwide to the state before the fall in the garden of Eden, and the kingdom of heaven, AND the kingdom being among us as Christians (not worldwide). His Kingdom will cover the earth, the church has the kingdom among it in part but there is no global kingdom rule until He returns. When we are born again, we enter into God’s kingdom (see John 3). The kingdom of God enters our hearts. Then, by His authority, we are able to exercise power and the spiritual gifts (which yes, are for today too, they did not go ‘on break’ or ‘hiatus’ nor did the baptsim of the Holy Spirit). Whether you hold to that or not, you can’t argue that Jesus said what He did below:

“Nor will people say, ‘Look, here it is,’ or ‘There it is.’ For you see, the kingdom of God is in your midst.” Luke 17; 21 (Before Jesus’ return)
“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…” Matthew 28; 18-19

Jesus is at the right hand of the throne of God right now. We have been given authority in His name to perform things according to His will, and we enter into His kingdom upon salvation. So the lyrics could simply be referring to that, and in that case there is no problem there either.

  3. Faith May 7, 2016 at 4:00 pm #

Again, to be clear, Dominionism is a dangerous heresy to avoid. The kingdom will not come to earth until Jesus returns. Anything before that is a satanic counterfeit.

About songs, there is a song out there with lyrics that equate the singer with “Judas’s kiss,” and then continue “but you love me anyway…” It’s been on the radio a while now, several years at least. So the concept of a person being ‘Judas’s kiss’ is presented as being ‘okay,’ when Judas betrayed Christ and was damned. Then the lyric ‘but you [God] love me anyway.’ Do you see how subtle that is? Do you see how dangerous? Yes, God loves sinners, but they must repent, and no, it is not okay to identify with Judas who is in hell now. Peter denied Him out of fear and was reinstated after being forgiven. (John 21) Judas betrayed Him for money and met a different fate. Don’t go there.

I know Kari from back in the aughts when she was accessible as a worship pastor at Gateway Church of Southlake, TX. She and her husband have been pastors at that church for years, as is her brother and her mother and father (who infamously cheated on his wife over a decade ago but was quickly and completely “restored” by Gateway Senior Pastor Robert Morris despite being disqualified from ministry).

While I agree that she is kind, loving and very genuine, I will say her actions this week are not “what you see is what you get”. Far from it Kelly. Gateway took 7 of their leaders, including Kari and her husband Cody Carnes, to Trump’s Inauguration festivities and Kari PERFORMED at one of Trump’s Inaugural Balls. Robert Morris, GW Apostolic Elder James Robison and Kari’s Gateway employed parents Sandy and Mark Jobe also attended.

The issue is that “Ms What you See is What You Get” has kept her support of Trump and her performance at his Inauguration festivities a dirty little secret hidden from her 2M supporters. As you well know, Kari Tweets about everything! “I sneezed!” 10k likes. I ate a Cheez-It” 50k likes. She was actively Tweeting/FBing up a storm during the Inauguration weekend about her new album release on Feb 3rd, yet is hiding her Trump support. Could it be that she thinks some of her fans could be offended by her supportibg a serial adulterer, casino and strip bar owning man who has children from 3 different women and advocates grabbing women’s genitals without their consent?

I completely support her right to support any candidate she so chooses. That’s what I love about America. But doesn’t her covering her participation up from her fans, when she lays bare every other minute detail of her life, sound a bit deceitful?

Lest readers think this is only support for the office, Kari’s home church, where she was a pastor for almost a decade, was one of Trump’s biggest supporters. They were the only church to hold TWO Spiritual Advisor positions in Trump’s Evangekical Board of Advosors. They funded Franklin Graham’s pro-GOP 50 state rally and Morris and Robison both spoke at official Inaugural events. Kari and her church have never been involved in any prior inaugurations.

If she and her church want to support a man like Trump, so be it. However, when she goes this far out of her way to conceal it entirely from the public you can no longer argue that she is genuine or open. I loved and respected her up until this week. No more. It’s not because of her support for a man like Trump so much as it is her covering it up so her sales revenues don’t go down. This is who Kari has become.

I know Kari Jobe and never have I seen someone so real. What you see is what you get. If there’s a choice if who Jesus is or what Jesus I serve, I choose hers. I’ve witness His presence and seen the power of true worship.
I can only pray that someday you will truely experience His presence so you too can know him like that.

Everyone had their opinion but this article, to me is way out of line.

    • Sola Scriptura May 9, 2016 at 5:21 pm #

Kelly – she preaches a different Jesus, a false Jesus, which Paul warned us about time and time again. See 2 Corinthians 11:4 and Galatians 1 for starters. Jesus Christ is the one who bore our sins in his body on a cold hard cross (1 Peter 2:23-25), and he didn’t come to make us rich or happy…he came to pay for our sins with his blood. THAT is the real, biblical Jesus, and the only one we should seek. Ignore all teachers, and get to know your Bible and as antiquated as it sounds, I highly recommend a KJV. I was NIV for decades until some of the changes bothered me. So I studied to show myself approved, and I discovered another one of satan’s brilliant deceptions…changing the Bible from the inside.
Here is a short article explaining it:
      https://followingjesuschrist3.com/2015/10/24/the-bible-version-controversy-a-brief-history/

Satan wants you to think you are following Jesus when you are really following men who invent a false Jesus because of the warm feelings it gives them, or because of greed. He wants you in hell at all costs and will gladly use the name of Jesus and christian terminology to get you there. Trust only the scriptures. I wish you Him, not as man fashions him, but as he is in the scriptures.

    • Tim January 13, 2017 at 4:14 pm #

Kari is a beautiful Lady with a very sincere heart.

Unfortunately those are Satans finest. Satan is coming as the messiah friend, why do you question his representatives come out as anything less than he is, for that’s all he chooses to infiltrate the church corrupting and mixing truth with error which is a mockery to God and His word!!

You are misled because you look at the outward and it seems so lovely and that is the bait satan uses..

The test is found if one is found to be in the Truth of Gods word, which Kobi clearly is NOT, and find s the power in another real spirit a false counterfeit spirit disguised as the Holy Spirit giving real emotions and feeling leading astray many preachers in the pulpit as warned in the Bible if you study it, not just read it.

Would you have preferred Hillary Clinton as the POTUS? How is it that you know about her support of President Trump and know one else does. I think you profess too much. Oh… BTW, my Pastor’s also on that Advisory Board… Thank God.

      • Jana Walczuk April 15, 2021 at 8:14 am #

To Jan……your message isn’t even literate. Spell and grammar check would help you so much. It sounds like an ignorant rant…

This statement is the most succinct description of Churchianity that I’ve read in months if not years!

I don’t know Ms.Jobe, nor her music, but I will say this, by and large “Christian” music is just a business, with catch phrases thrown in for good measure. Look at how many “Christian” groups have imploded, later to be exposed they really weren’t followers of Christ. Or some “Christian” entertainer leaves wife or husband for another, or confesses he’s not really a believer. The Christian Music Business, glorifies the performer and it’s another piece in the puzzle of how the “church” wants to be like the world. Congregations have switched The Word for entertainment.

  6. Darrel May 9, 2016 at 1:33 pm #

Kari Jobe, such a sweet, innocent face, a soft and mellow voice, an easy to love demeanor, no doubt thousands (millions) have fallen under her spell (Kelly?) and is fast becoming one of the elite that can do no wrong—at least in the eyes of her fans. But beneath this veneer of kindness, mild-mannered, ewe (baby lamb) like persona we find the real Kari Jobe to be one who does not know the Jesus of the Bible but has replaced Him with a figment of her imagination.

Christ indeed spent three days in hell, but NOT to destroy it or the devil. Christ had already made a “public spectacle” of His enemy and all demons while on the Cross (Col. 2:14 & 15) while the purpose of His visit to hell was to preach “to the spirits in prison” 1 Peter 3:18 and 1 Peter 4:6. Eph. 4:8 – 10 gives further reason for His time there. No where to be found is this fantasy KJ describes.

  7. Jesse May 10, 2016 at 10:40 pm #

I don’t understand how people can judge her heart who have never met her. Haven’t we all sinned and fallen short of His glory? Don’t we still have a fallen flesh that leads us to sin on occasion even after we are saved? Is it not possible to explain this doctrinal misunderstanding as just that…a misunderstanding and not that she’s a false teacher? And lastly God says in Proverbs that he hates those who sow discord among the brethren…lets be cautious to not do that as we discern the times.

    • Darrel May 11, 2016 at 9:09 am #

It is Kari Jobe that is sowing the discord and NOT those who point to her as the false prophet that she is. Is it ok with the god you worship for his followers to believe and preach anything they want no matter how it contradicts the Word of God that the real God has provided for us just so long as you “love” each other? I don’t need to meet this Kari Jobe in person to know her heart in this matter, because her own mouth has revealed it to the world, and in this matter her heart is pure wickedness. Is your heart far behind? You have rejected the Scriptures that have been provided to show you the truth of why Jesus went to hell for three days and have chosen instead to side with the god of lies that you worship. If the Holy Spirit resides in you how can you not repent of this evil immediately?

      • Ms. Jo May 30, 2016 at 12:16 pm #

Oh Darrel – That hate is not going to get you anywhere. It is not righteous hate. What will the Lord say to you about this when you meet him face to face and look back on your deeds? (2 Corinthians 5:10) Will he say you addressed these people in love? Even if you do differ – your tone is not one that would lead people to your side. You attack her as Jesus attacked the Pharisees. Does she really deserve this? Kari Jobe loves Jesus. The fruit of her life is very good. Have you even looked at this? Yes – we do need to be aware of false teachers. Will we not know them by their fruit? If you think someone is deceived, if it is even you, let me ask: how would you want someone to address you? Not to save you, for you are already saved in Christ (John 5:24) But, how could one save you from the blessing you would lose at the judgement of deeds for how you treated those in Christ? God bless you.

          Hello

I have studied Apologetics for years beginning in 1997 because of the many teachers and preachers. For the word warns that God will send a DELUSION to the so called people of God described in Thessalonians because the Love of the Truth which is only found in the word of God will wax cold.

Yes, I agree hold hardedly with Darell in everything he has said in his post. My studies show Kari and a host of many others have fallen for this deceit!! It is a false spirit and false notion of the truth that blinds the masses.

And Ms. Jo couldn’t be further from the truth for as the shepherds so go the sheep. Unfortuantely Jo, is sincere, but sincerely wrong and there is no mercy in this, for what is happening now in this mass APOSTASY is called JUDGMENT!! that the house of God is experiencing until the rapture.

I have given up warning the blind, for if God blinds who can undo what God has done. Repeated denial of the exegetical truth of Gods word leads to blindess of the heard and mind.

For Christ said this..Leave them for the blind will lead the blind. Even Jesus SEES that once blind of the truth, it then is sign that now God has left you, and there is no conviction within the heart, and He leaves the followers of false teaching in blindess following and defending false teachers that teach DAMNABLE HERESIES warned about over and over and over in throughout the whole bible!!

          Tim

    • Sola Scriptura May 11, 2016 at 8:20 pm #

Jesse – as Paul judged Peter for the sake of the gospel, so we are to judge those who teach falsely…not for our own sake but for the sake of Jesus Christ, who saved us from our sins through his blood shed on the cross. Nothing else matters. May God and his word be true…and every man a liar. See what the scriptures say about judging “righteously:”
      https://followingjesuschrist3.com/2016/01/22/right-judgement/

Love Kari Jobe she is awesome and after going to a concert with her singing I went to another level in my faith and it grew and grew and grew. She did the watering and God did the growing!!!

  10. Nicole May 29, 2016 at 10:53 pm #

For those of you who always try to see the negative and try to make people believe that those that try to bring people to Christ are the enemy …you need to wake up! Kari Jobe has always brought me deeper in my faith because of her amazing music. Been a member of gateway church for over 7 years and I know God sees the good. I pray that you open read the bible… see the truth that will be revealed to you of you let it!

  11. Ms. Jo May 29, 2016 at 11:42 pm #

This is really sad. Kari Jobe believes. No – she may not have every detail right, but that does not mean she follows a false Jesus. Where is your love?

“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.” – John 5:24

    • Tim January 13, 2017 at 3:49 pm #

No one has every detail right..One must have every detail of the CORE DOCTRINES right which she does not, For blessing the NAR and being a part of it a partaker of their evil deeds experessed in III John. But however, she is a part of this false movement among other false teachings.

No, it goes into denying who the REAL CHRIST is.

Who do you say that I am Christ asked Peter. The same question goes to every soul born. For this answer to this question MUST be perfectly Right, otherwise one follows another Jesus warned about in Galatians which were as well led astray by false teachers.

Paul said the consequence of this vial ERROR is Damnation.

For it is written in Galatians, For I tell you if anyone preach any other Gospel, any other testament, any other message than the one I preached even if a holy angel from heaven preach any other message let him be cursed I say to you again, if any preach any other message let him be CURSED.

      This means Damned.

Yes, as warned false teachers who will come as angels of light, beautiful sweet hearted souls portrayed as such and very charismatic an popular are the very ones leading the masses to a false Christ found in Kari Jobe and a host of many others who are taking over the real chirstianity which is called the Great Apostasy or a Great Falling away to even the elect will be challenged as warned in the bible of a last days falling away to a hell eternal.

Its the judgment in the house of God, for judgment will first start at house of God and it has arrived in spades!! Very few churches are left preaching the Old Fashion Gospel because no one goes!! due to the excitement of the New Christ preached throughout the whole world found in the likes of Joel Osteen and most on TBN!!

  12. Samye Kaye May 30, 2016 at 11:22 am #

This music worship brings MANY young, lost souls to Jesus. Shut up with the dissection and let Jesus use this to bring these young people to Him. Do you not think He is using this lovely music for His own purpose? Too much study and not enough faith in His benevolent power and love……you are missing the whole point. The emotion of this lovely music breaks a hardened heart. God knows this and do you not believe that once that heart is broken He will enter? And do you not believe He will then guide this new child of His? To negate the power of this movement bringing the lost youth to Him is you negating the power and awesome love He has for the broken.

LOL, listen friend Satan always brings lovely music, lovely people for he is still an angel of light!!! but a false light!! For he too will come as the messiah and will deceive the whole world because of his false light!!

As warned by Paul do not be deceived for Satan is a false light why do you marvel that his servants come also an great preachers and evangelists !!

Satan does not have horns but comes as lovely and handsome and perfect, so he is reflected by his servants as well.

You have been blinded by a false light.. Start hearing the real preachers of Gods word.

To Samye Kaye; you claim that worship music draws many lost souls to Jesus? You also say ” too much study, not enough faith in His benevelont power and love” and ” the emotion of this lovely music breaks a hardened heart”. Can you please reference scripture for these statements? Romans 1:16-17, Romans 10:3-9, Romans 16:25-26, 1cor.1:21-25 all explain that the true, clear gospel of Jesus Christ must be presented first.matthew 3:2 is one example of repentence necessary before conversion can take place. We can never study His living word ” too much”! Coming to Christ must be on His terms, otherwise it is a false conversion.

Ms.Jo…if Kari Jobe does not preach the true Word, she is preaching another Jesus. If she doesnt have the atonenent and redemption correct, then she should not be a minister….plus she is a female pastor,
which is forbidden in the bible.
For Nicole and anyone else who has feel good moments from Kari’s music: she chooses to share the stage with heretical groups like Hillsong, Jesus Culture, Bethel music, Elevation music, etc. She also performs at conferences where false.teachers such a Joyce Meyer, Christine Caine, Beth Moore appear. Lastly, she is under the ” covering” of Gateway, pastor Robert Morris, who is a word of faith, NAR wolf. So…ask yourself people…why does Kari only surround herself with false teachers and groups? Is it a lack of descernment on her part? Or does she believe just like they do? Whatever the answer, she should not be teaching .
Please, search the scriptures! Read and study! We are in the last days, and were warned of thus apostacy. Get on descernment websites and blogs and read about how dangerous the word of faith and NAR are.
    Be blessed!

Another song to consider…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxeVrMC1qVY Seems like a pretty solid example of the gospel. Can you doubt this woman’s love for Jesus? She sings of His blood cleansing her from her sin and His Lordship and acknowledging Him as the Son (which the Bible tells us she can’t do unless she is truly saved). I agree the theology of the fight in the grave may be off but lets give her some room for doctrinal error without calling her a heretic…by those standards I’d say we’ve all been heretics at times…

    • Tim January 13, 2017 at 4:03 pm #

Yes, she may have a love for jesus, but that is not the test!!!

The bible says what to test and its not if you love jesus for many love jesus but are going to hell because they put their trust in the wrong jesus.

The test is a Love for the TRUTH!! This is what they don’t value and are never found in the word, muchless listening to true teacners that are in the word!!

I AM the Truth!! Without The Truth who Jesus is there is NO LIFE ETERNAL. For He is the Truth not something in Him, its literally who He IS.

For in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the Word was God. The word became FLESH!!

      iT IS WHO HE IS!!

Wow. This “Christian” site appears to be the very thing the writers and bloggers are “warning” the rest of us about. I’ve read some of the articles on almost all of the topics listed. They are filled with hate. Where is the love of Jesus here? Even though I’m repelled by some of the things I’ve read on this site, I understand we are all only humans and we all are loved by our Father. All of us.

What I read here is a bunch of Pharisees who think that knowing all your perfect theology makes them more mature, but no, it actually is extremely arrogant and not Christlike at all. If you all truly want to be even considered real Christians, the first thing you ALL need to do is actually stop this charade of judgement and fighting and nonsense and get OUT of your pretty little pews and perfect little Christian clicks and circles and BE the love of Christ. All your theology and “maturity” is completely useless and seen as pure pride in the eyes of the world. Grow up, get up, get over yourselves, and actually DO all those pretty bible verses you all have WELL memorized to the core… Only then can I take this thing seriously. Wrong question!!

The right question where is the Love of the TRUTH!!

To rebuke jobi is love, not the other way around.

Contending for the truth makes you sick? Scripture makes you sick? Calling out error makes you sick? You’re willing to compromise all of the above because you idolize the person singing? How about when Paul called out Peter? Or Jesus called out the pious leaders of His day? Maybe instead of getting sick, why don’t you examine what Kari is expounding and compare to what scripture says, as Amy pointed out her heresy is coming from Joyce Meyer a well known expounded of error…….But I guess that doesn’t matter right?

  17. Manny1962 January 13, 2017 at 4:41 pm #

People are more concerned about their entertainment idols than the truth……..they get bent out of shape if their favorite idol is castigated, but when scripture gets dragged in the dirt they don’t bat an eye. Who are the hypocrites? Those that care for the words of Christ or those that care for things of the world? These people need to go back and read IN CONTEXT what it means to judge! No discernment, no knowledge.

Hello all, I was a very close friend of Kari Jobe many years ago, before she became pastor at Gateway Church, back in bible college. Yes I know you all may think you know Kari, but did you know she has two degree’s in theology, and a degree in pastoral education. No I dont think any of you realize this. I didn’t know she performed at Trump’s inauguration. I live close to DC now. I also know as far as the music business goes. Kari doesn’t really handle all of that, she managers, and agents that handle that. As far as her twitter goes, she has somebody handle that as well. She’s not as dunce as she appears on Twitter. She has a very private family/social life. She has a wonderful testimony, as far as her dad cheating on her mom I didn’t know that either. Mark Jobe is a great man of faith. Yes I know people change, and there thoughts and ideas change. The only ones who idolise some body like Kari are the ones who dont know Christ fully. Kari’s heart is to lead those who dont know Christ, or who don’t have a full concept of His love to that realization, and to let the knowlegde of the glory of the Lord be spread all over the earth. If Kari wasn’t who she is today she told me this years ago she wanted to be a school teacher. And I believe that is what she would do for a living, if God didn’t open up this huge door for her. Its not like she went seeking after this. It just kind of happened.

I recently attended an outcry concert. Was appolled that there was a giant goats head on the background screen on stage. It was only on the screen for a few moments and disguised in the middle of screen well. But if u really to a look u could see it plain as day. I pointed it out to my wife and she saw it as well. I began to pray for everyone there that knew not what they were attending !! Right in plain sight !! How many people saw it?? Not many if any . Pray for everyone that God may remove the wool from your eyes so that they may see !!!

    From the article…

“n the Charismatic Evangelical church, there is a movement known as the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR). It is a movement that elevates experience above doctrinal truth. Often times you will see many with contradictory beliefs about the basic tenets of Christianity come together in prayer and worship. This is the driving force behind this modern worship scene that’s creeping into once solid churches.
….”My favorite part of the whole thing is … we talk about the death on the cross and we talk about the resurrection, but that time in between was when Jesus was in hell rendering hell. And ransacking hell. And defeating the enemy – taking those keys to death and hell and the grave to be victorious over that when he rose from the dead.”

This should be very troubling to the true, born from above believer. This is deception, plain and simple. Satan is using his minions in the music biz to play upon the emotions, but the word of God does not play upon emotions. The word of God pricks the heart, there must be a brokenness over sin. Having the ‘warm fuzzies’ is NOT brokenness over your vileness against a thrice holy God. Basing your belief on ‘experience’ and not on the solid truth of God’s word will lead you astray.

As for the horrendous lyrics she elevated, where does this teaching come from? Heretic Joyce Meyer teaches something similar. From this same article, “This idea that Jesus died and went to Hell stems from an old heresy that is prominent in Word of Faith circles that teach that Jesus died spiritually, and was “born again” after defeating Satan in Hell. Popular teachers of this false teaching are Joyce Meyer, Kenneth Copeland, and Creflo Dollar. ”

We are called to be good bereans, the folks here that defend this woman and her false teachings/lyrics prove they know nothing of being a good berean. Defending error is not the fruit of the born again believer. Following feelings, emotions, etc is not the same as walking in the Spirit and being born from above.

Self-proclaimed titles such as ‘worship artist’ cannot be supported by scripture as well. Outward worship is an abomination to God. Man wants to be entertained and you dare not touch on the ‘sin’ issue.

It comes as no surprise the Lord warned in Matthew 24:4, ‘take heed NO MAN deceive you’. How tragic that many are led astray by NAR and various other ‘religions’ of man.

    • lyn May 12, 2017 at 12:21 pm #

Let me add this….I work with a young man who is caught up in this ‘experience’ type religion. He believes he is saved because he experienced something at some point. Yet, he uses foul language on a regular basis and is a user of marijuana. He also became very upset when I told him that a drunkard will not enter God’s kingdom. I pointed him to 1 Cor. 6 and he didn’t seem too pleased with what God said. He said he doesn’t like to read much, so I assume that would include the bible.

This is the ‘fruit’ of this cult and many are caught up in it. May God have mercy and save sinners, freeing them from man-made religion.

For starters apostasty: the abandonment or renunciation of a religious or political belief. Has nothing to do with discernment. This is judgment. This is religion. Tell me what religion was Jesus? Plenty of people ready to point a finger nowadays at anyone that does anything different. You better remember how different Jesus was when he was here! Nobody believed him or who he was especially his own people & town. They even called him a devil for the works he did. You think he likes all this? You think you know enough about Jesus because you’ve read the bible. I’ve read it ,still am knowing Jesus is more than reading about him its about a relationship with him. Its about worship and praise. People do this different ways as long as he is getting the Glory butt out he can use the bad for his good. He is still in control. Don’t forget he came for the lost to help them not to shame them and point fingers. Maybe we should be more like Jesus!!

“For starters apostasty: the abandonment or renunciation of a religious or political belief. Has nothing to do with discernment.”

Yes and no, without discernment it would be hard to spot subtle apstate teaching, especially when the wolf behind the pulpit or an entertainer hides an ounce of yeast within a pound of truth. If you’re not reading scripture, praying and not walking in The Spirit you’re open to fall for subtle deception.

“This is judgment. This is religion.”

Not sure what you mean by this.

“Tell me what religion was Jesus?”

Jesus did not belong to any “religion” His followers were first called Christians in Antioch, Acts 11:19-26

“Plenty of people ready to point a finger nowadays at anyone that does anything different.”

There’s quite a gulf between doing something different and preaching a different Jesus, we are commanded to call out those and “point” a finger at those twisting scripture.

“You better remember how different Jesus was when he was here! Nobody believed him or who he was especially his own people & town.”

Yes those that were not discerning, could not see the day of their visitation, Jesus is everlasting He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow, He is the fulfillment of scripture….Luke 19:44

“They even called him a devil for the works he did.”

Yes, the ultra religious committed the unpardonable sin…..Matthew 12:24

“You think he likes all this?”

You mean the utter Great Apostasy unfurling in churchianity? The many false teachers that were foretold to come, the false teaching gripping Christendom? Or how the banal, shallow entertainment that passes itself as worship?

You think you know enough about Jesus because you’ve read the bible. I’ve read it ,still am knowing Jesus is more than reading about him its about a relationship with him. Rather than spew out your opinion with no biblical backing, compare the ‘theology’ of the lyrics of this woman’s songs to what the bible actually teaches. Open your bible and cry out for wisdom and understanding. This dangerous movement is sweeping multitudes away from the Christ of the bible and towards fleshly feelings, emotions, and opinions.
“knowing Jesus is more than reading about him its about a relationship with him. Its about worship and praise. People do this different ways” where is this found in the bible? How can you know Christ apart from studying His word?! How does the bible command believers to worship Him? ‘In spirit and in truth’, that truth being found in His written word. God will not accept whatever type of ‘worship’ you may offer up. If it is of the flesh, it is detestable to Him. What makes you think your ‘experience’ type of worship is acceptable to God? Remember Aaron’s sons?

Lev 10:1  And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not.
Lev 10:2  And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.
Lev 10:3  Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace.

You cannot do ‘worship’ how you think it should be done. “To worship “in spirit and in truth” stands opposed to a carnal worship which is external and spectacular. It bars out all worshipping of God with the senses. We cannot worship Him who is “Spirit” by gazing on ornate architecture and stained glass windows, by listening to the peals of a costly organ, by smelling sweet incense or “telling” of beads. We cannot worship God with our eyes and ears, or nose and hands, for they are “flesh” not “spirit”. “Must worship in spirit and in truth” excludes everything that is of the natural man.

To worship “in spirit and in truth” bars out all soulical worship. The soul is the seat of the emotions, and very much of the so-called worship of present-day Christendom is only soulical. Touching anecdotes, stirring appeals, thrilling oratory of a religious character, are all calculated to produce this very thing. Beautiful anthems by a well-trained choir, rendered in such a way as to move to tears or to ecstacies of joy may stir the soul, but will not and cannot affect the inner man.

True worship is the adoration of a redeemed people, occupied with God Himself. The unregenerate look upon “worship” as an obeisance which God exacts from them, and which gives them no joy as they seek to proffer it. Far different is it with those who have been born from above and redeemed with precious blood. The first time the word “redeemed” occurs in Scripture is in Exodus 15, and it is there also, for the first time, we behold a people “singing,” worshipping, adoring God Himself. There, on the far shores of the Red Sea, that Nation which had been brought out from the house of bondage and delivered from all their enemies united in praising Jehovah.” from A. W. Pink – https://www.the-highway.com/worship_Pink.html

As Christ stated to Nicodemus, ‘ Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God’ John 3:3. Without this supernatural work within the sinner done by God the Spirit, you cannot understand the things of God. Many today use carnal means to worship a god they’ve created from their own vivid imaginations. They mix a wee bit of scripture in with this god and think they are serving the great ‘I AM’. One of the great tragedies of this modern day is the lack of truly knowing God and His attributes as they are presented in His word. May it please Him to reveal Himself more deeply to those who have been born again by the Holy Spirit.

“You think he likes all this?”

You mean the utter Great Apostasy unfurling in churchianity? The many false teachers that were foretold to come, the false teaching gripping Christendom? Or how the banal, shallow entertainment that passes itself as worship? This is what He says: Revelation 3:16

…15I know your deeds; you are neither cold nor hot. How I wish you were one or the other. 16So because you are lukewarm — neither hot nor cold — I am about to spit you out of My mouth! 17You say, ‘I am rich; I have grown wealthy and need nothing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked.…”

“You think you know enough about Jesus because you’ve read the bible.”

Actually all we need to know about Christ is fully revealed in scripture, anything else is just speculation reference: Hebrews 1:2-1:4 2But in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the universe. 3The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His nature, upholding all things by His powerful word. After He had provided purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. 4So He became as far superior to the angels as the name He has inherited is excellent beyond theirs….”

“I’ve read it ,still am knowing Jesus is more than reading about him its about a relationship with him.”

How will you know Him if you don’t hear His Word? We are a new creation in Christ.

” Its about worship and praise”

No, it’s more than that, it’s reverence, love, it’s knowing we worship a Holy God, a just God, a Judge who is worthy of all praise, it’s about being thankful.

. “People do this different ways as long as he is getting the Glory butt out he can use the bad for his good.”

God does not get glory in shallow, banal, worship, today what you get are entertainers who worship themselves, their money and their careers.

    “He is still in control.”

No doubt, and He’s about to return as a vengeful, righteous, judge….

“Don’t forget he came for the lost to help them not to shame them and point fingers. Maybe we should be more like Jesus!!”

He did not come to help, as that implies man can do something to save himself, cooperate in his salvation if you will. He came to save those that turn to Him for forgiveness and remission of sins. Anyone who faces Christ is shamed, for when we face Christ we are reminded of our filthy past as unsaved sinners. Yes we should all be, but as long as we are in this tent we still have the flesh. Standing up for His word, calling out those that would twist them is being Christ-like!

I know Biblical “doctrine” well, but not every word in Scripture is doctrine. I think many of these arguments are just parsing words.

Yes, I totally agree that there is much heresy and false theology being sung in much of the so-called “Christian” music, and I have not spent any time analyzing ALL of Kari’s songs, but the phrase in her song being discussed in this article truly does not concern real doctrine. At worst it may be off in what it implies, but it is also simply symbolic of the victory over death and hell that Jesus won for us, as Paul mentions in I Cor 15:54…
“Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

I think we would all agree that God’s Word does not make ALL the truth of ALL Biblical events and activities crystal clear. There was room for disagreement among the apostles in Acts on certain issues that were not critical to real doctrine, and there should be room today to “agree to disagree” on non-theological points.

I actually expected much more from this article, like covering “Christian” songs that are actually heretical, like one particular “grace” song by MercyMe that says “grace says it(sin) doesn’t matter” which implies no repentance is needed; and a song by Francesca B that says “perfection is my enemy”, which is contrary to Jesus’ own words in Matt 5:48
“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect”; and many other “Christian” songs.

My advice to my teens is to be discerning, and pay close attention to the lyrics for every song, especially by all “Christian” artists. They are only saved sinners as we are, and can produce a Biblically sound song one day, then a Biblically unsound song the next day. For us all it totally depends on our daily walk & talk with the Lord.

One month ago I began listening to so called false prophets and songs produced by the likes of Kari Jobe and her contemporaries. For the first time in my life I became convinced that Christianity was the one true faith after spending years trapped in New Age beliefs. I had a broken heart after leaving an abusive relationship and felt, days after telling God I was broken, what I believed to be the love of God well up in my heart and heal me. I was skeptical about Christianity before this happened, but ever since feeling that deep love and being lead over and over to songs, books, youtube videos and testimonies about Jesus, I have lost all interest in the world and in anything secular or New Age. I repented even of sins I hadn’t, up to this point, even remembered or cared I had once committed. Although I struggled with doubts, I prayed for full faith in Jesus Christ. While I do believe that some of the goings on at Bethel church are heretical or pagan, I don’t understand why God would have lead me to music and sermons that are ultimately demonic. I know some of you might say it’s the “Strong delusion” the Bible talks about, but if a person prays to God in a spirit of brokenness as I did, and that God then reveals Jesus to that person over and over and over again versus Buddha or some Hindu goddess that they might have considered praying to before, then how does this benefit Satan? If he wanted he could’ve tricked me into worshipping anybody else, but instead I sought Jesus, who turned a pro choice, gay marriage supporting heathen like me towards conservative Christianity. And so rapidly. I just don’t understand. Did God call to me after all? And if it wasn’t him who healed me, lead me to Jesus and turned me away from secular forms of entertainment, then who was it?

Becareful with “feelings,” they’re seductive. God does call on His terms not on what we perceive. You said : “One month ago I began listening to so called false prophets and songs produced by the likes of Kari Jobe and her contemporaries. For the first time in my life I became convinced that Christianity was the one true faith …” Kari Jobe is not preaching the gospels, she drops in feel-good “spiritual” lyrics, knowing Christ is more than feelings, it’s a convicting experience that’s unlike any, you must read your Bible, stay grounded in the word and I can’t stress this enough, pray, pray and pray! Ask for wisdom, ask for discernment, as a new child of God you must live trusting in Jesus Christ, you’re being g perfected, you still have to live with the flesh, you will trip and fall at times, just remember Jesus Christ died for you, you don’t deserve it and you can’t pay for it…….Jesus will never give up on you, walk in The Spirit, put in the full armor of God and the evil one will flee. Please, read your Bible and pray unceasingly. God bless you and may He be a lamp unto your feet, may He pour His boundless mercy upon you, and may He keep you on that narrow road that leads to life! Maranatha! He is returning sooner than we know!

I’m sorry, I really should have articulated myself better. My coming to faith in Jesus wasn’t from listening to music, rather, the music and sermons I was listening to increased my attention to the calling in my heart, the deep love I felt after praying to God and telling him I was broken inside after being abused by my ex boyfriend. Although I’d been depressed and broken hearted before, nothing compared to the trauma I experienced by living with a sociopathic man who wanted me dead. As it says in the Bible, the Lord is near those with a broken heart and saves those with a crushed spirit. I didn’t know this at the time but I was desperate for Him. I had false beliefs about Christians, that they were closed minded and ignorant and hateful, thanks to the media and the world’s perception of the truth. But the more I saw through these sermons and songs, the more I realized I was wrong. I felt like I had been lead to them to show me that this (Christianity) was a safe path to take. I know that salvation and faith are more than feelings obviously, but I could never have come to this faith if the Lord hadn’t first put His love in my heart. I was too blind and He opened my eyes to His truth. I know very well that I didn’t deserve his grace, he just gave it to me anyway because of his love for me. And being lead to repent was nothing short of a miracle in my life, because up to this time I had never even considered that any of my sins were even wrong. I am praying a lot for discernment and I’m reading the Bible. Thank you for your response!

‘One month ago I began listening to so called false prophets and songs produced by the likes of Kari Jobe and her contemporaries. For the first time in my life I became convinced that Christianity was the one true faith after spending years trapped in New Age beliefs. I had a broken heart after leaving an abusive relationship and felt, days after telling God I was broken, what I believed to be the love of God well up in my heart and heal me’. —— it is the Gospel preached that has the power to save sinners, and not CCM music. From Romans 1:16, “Rom 1:16  For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek”. This CCM music plays on the emotions, just as your comment implies, “For the first time in my life I became convinced that Christianity was the one true faith”. You came to this conclusion as a result of a song? That’s baffling, since the word of God is where truth lies.
You came from an abusive relationship and state God ‘healed’ you….of what? A broken heart? The brokenness the bible speaks of concerns our own vileness, our sins against God. Having a change of mind concerning moral issues isn’t a sign of being saved either, there are multitudes who have conservative views and are just as vile as those who don’t. Good morals do not save.

Now, are you saved? I cannot say; you must be born again. This new birth is the opening of the understanding that brings about a changed mind, and life. It is an understanding of your own vileness. It is a reading of His word and the mind being opened to His truth as His Spirit teaches that truth. It is a shameful understanding of sin and fleeing to Christ, the only One who can save you from what you deserve.

God draws sinners unto Himself, and He saves them to the uttermost. May this be so with you as well. Remember the parable of the soils, may your heart be that of the ‘good soil’.  ” And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred.  And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.” Mark 4:8

May God’s grace be shed fully upon you

    • Elizabeth Nugent June 1, 2017 at 6:33 pm #

Thank you for your response. I want to clarify that I didn’t come to knowledge of Jesus or Christianity as being the one true faith by a mere song. I got that by being drawn to the Bible after praying to God, having admitted to him that I was completely and utterly broken after experiencing mind altering abuse. I wanted him to help me but I didn’t know who He was. I was so traumatized by my ex boyfriend’s horrific treatment of me that I wanted to die. Finally after realizing I could no longer attempt to heal myself, I prayed. It wasn’t too long afterwards that I felt such a deep, comforting love in my chest that I knew it couldn’t be coming from me. I had had supernatural experiences before from dabbling in the occult, but I had never had anything like this comfort or this love like a warm candle in my heart. I know Satan appears as an angel of light, but I doubt Satan would have done what happened next. God was entering my life and wanted to direct my course. Gradually I began to be drawn to Christian music, sermons, testimonies, books and speeches, and the more I did so, the more love and truth I felt. I was starving for God and didn’t own a Bible yet. I realized that if this loving presence in my heart kept leading me to Christian material, even though I had hated Christianity and wanted nothing to do with what I ignorantly perceived to be the foolishness of Christianity, that it must be the one true faith after all. Why would Satan convince me of the authenticity of Christianity? I realize that our brokenness is our own vileness, but the Bible also says that the Lord is near those with a broken heart and saves those with a crushed spirit. I know that he hurts when we hurt, and it is in the weakest, most oppressive times in our lives that many of us find the Lord for the first time, possibly due to our pride finally being broken enough to admit we need help outside of ourselves. It was after having these experiences and praying to Jesus that I realized that I am indeed a wicked person. I wasn’t the good person I always thought I was. I had the heart of a murderer after supporting abortion and I was no better than the man who had held a knife over my throat while smirking. I threw away my $50 tarot cards I had purchased mere weeks ago, and when I did so a spider fell down off it’s web and got away from me. I took that as a sign of lies. If you knew me in person you would be shocked at the changes that have come over me and the depth of the healing that has my best friend in awe. You are right when you say that God draws sinners to Himself. I have no doubt about that. Thank you for sharing that parable with me.

      • lyn June 2, 2017 at 12:03 am #

        Elizabeth,

If I may share an observation….you seem to think God is some sort of genie that desires to make your life better and problems go away. Now I may be assuming much.

What I haven’t seen you speak much of is your sins against Him. It is heartbreaking that your boyfriend was so abusive, but that isn’t the issue between you and God. Your sins are what separate you from God, and all sinners from Him. Granted, when God first saved me I didn’t have it all figured out. I only warn you to be careful to test the spirits and be careful what you allow to enter into your mind. This article warns about this woman, please heed that warning.
I know when I was first saved I used to watch Joyce Meyer and Beth Moore. Praise God for growing discernment and leading me away from those dangerous heretics!

I pray God will do the same for you….

        • Elizabeth Nugent June 2, 2017 at 6:26 pm #

I absolutely do not see God as some sort of Genie at all. I was simply testifying to his healing power. Naturally I’m going to be thrilled at what He has done for me. It feels like a million weights are off my chest. God has surely been trying to reach me my whole life. I only recognized myself as a sinful person after I accepted Him into my life. You see, it was nothing short of a miracle that he was able to help me in the way he did. I had spent my whole life following my own ideals and it brought me to hell on earth. That is what I’ve been trying to say- that going my own way was the sin that lead me astray. I don’t expect an easier life as a Christian. I have committed to taking up my cross for Him no matter how difficult life gets and I’m praying constantly for His help. But I don’t panic anymore when something bad happens. I know now there is a God who loves me and will never leave me, and I intend to keep praising Him for his healing love and mercy. He is the good sheppard after all.

I believe I have mentioned my sins by talking about my former involvements with the occult, unbelief in Jesus and my living with a man before marriage. Those are the sins that got me into the greatest amount of trouble and still He was determined to save me. The rest of my sins are too numerous to list here but they were wiped away when I repented. I never meant to imply that my heartbreak was the one thing keeping me from God. It was my own stubbornness and sinfulness and pride, a pride which was only broken when I was sufficiently shattered enough to ask Him to be my guide from now on.

          Thank you for you prayers.

Feeling good and feeling spiritual, doesn’t save! In fact most people in these cults (for that is what they are) feel good and feel spiritual, but are blind. When those feelings wane, what do they do? Run after the great new”spiritual” fad being promoted by the wolf/huckster behind the pulpit or microphone.

I assure you not all of Kari’s fans are chasing a spiritual fad. Some of the people in my life hate the fact that I have turned to Jesus and I am holding fast to Him anyway. I have read about Bethel church leaders and their occult activity and I am not impressed by it. Cults are depraved and not to be messed with. My point in writing here was that perhaps Christians are being somewhat overly paranoid in these last days? Of course false prophets are everywhere and it’s good to be on guard, but we can’t just assume some slight error on the part of a pastor or entertainer is automatic proof that they’ve been infected by the devil! If that were true every Christian on earth would be a wolf in sheep’s clothing. One can hardly look at a Christian sermon, music video or book without wild accusations of heresy and satanism on every comment section. If I believed every negative thing said about every pastor, entertainer, author and preacher I have listened to, I would have to throw literally every last thing out the window, hide in my room and do nothing but read the Bible all day. Which would be a pity, because before I was lead to buying a Bible I had nothing but sermons to teach me, and every time I wondered a question to myself or prayed for an answer to something, some sermon would pop up on my youtube suggestions box with an answer for me.

    Good evening Elizabeth,

“Of course false prophets are everywhere and it’s good to be on guard, but we can’t just assume some slight error on the part of a pastor or entertainer is automatic proof that they’ve been infected by the devil!”

It’s not just good to be on guard, it’s a priority, many are being led astray and the Bible commands us to warn others of dangerous false teachings. A slight error, or an opinion on a non-salvific issue is not an issue to break fellowship over, but what we are seeing is the wholesale rejection of scripture. Those propagating anything outside of scripture are to be shunned.

“Some of the people in my life hate the fact that I have turned to Jesus and I am holding fast to Him anyway.”

Following Jesus Christ incurs a cost, you will be hated, despised, shunned and in some countries killed for your faith.

“My point in writing here was that perhaps Christians are being somewhat overly paranoid in these last days? ”

Actually the sad thing is most “Christians” think everything is normal, most Christians don’t read their bibles, believe the veracity of scripture, believe Jesus is returning to judge the world…..they believe the opposite, that’s why a very vile and dangerous movement called the NAR has spread like a cancer in “churdom,” this why there’s a huge exodus of people leaving Churchianity in droves, this was foretold to happen. You “sound” like a young person, believe me when I say the Apostasy and decline has speed up in the last few years unlike I’ve ever seen.

“One can hardly look at a Christian sermon, music video or book without wild accusations of heresy and satanism on every comment section.”

That’s a broad stroke, not every, but the majority of what passes for a Christian sermon, entertainment, or Christian literature is compromised. That’s why it’s so important to warn, the fault lies with lazy Christians the don’t read their bibles, are lax in prayer and are easily carried by every wind of doctrine. For instance The Shack, it’s not a Christian book, it’s blatantly blasphemous and yet it’s sold millions of copies, all one needs is to pull out a bible and compare the word of God to the book.

“If I believed every negative thing said about every pastor, entertainer, author and preacher I have listened to, I would have to throw literally every last thing out the window, hide in my room and do nothing but read the Bible all day.”

You must search for yourself, you must compare what a pastor is teaching or saying against what scripture says, if the person is not being true to the word of God, that person is to be avoided. Paul counted everything he knew and had as a complete loss compared to knowing Jesus Christ, so yes if we must discard everything and everyone for the sake of Jesus Christ then we shall.

“Which would be a pity, because before I was lead to buying a Bible I had nothing but sermons to teach me, and every time I wondered a question to myself or prayed for an answer to something, some sermon would pop up on my youtube suggestions box with an answer for me.”

Please be careful, how would you know if the sermons were correct without the witten word of God to compare? Feelings can be tricky, none of the apostles went on feelings, the Bible makes it clear we must pray for wisdom, discernment and guidance…..Guidance comes from The Holy Spirit who teaches us all things, we must trust Him completely in His ministry. Jesus said The Holy Spirit will come to live in us, to guide us, protect us and open our eyes and ears so that we will not be deceived by the Apostasy that’s raging and growing daily. Remember, there’s “Churchianity” which is false, compromised and names the name of Christ deceptively, it is cursed and it’s headed to hell. Then there’s the bride of Jesus Christ, comprised of His own, the real church, invisible and awaiting her Master, that is us! We must be ready for His return! We must warn of coming judgement, we must warn and call out those who are deceiving, they in turn are deceived……. They don’t have ears to hear with it eyes to see with, truly the blind leading the blind.

For myself—I’m just tired of the whole entertainment aspect that worship music in the U.S. has become—the wigs, the false eyelashes, the worldly approach (and no I am not opposed to all contemporary music), the rock concert lights and hooha that has taken over a majority of churches. Fewer people are getting saved because of the whole thing—not more. Jesus Christ is King of the Universe and deserves music in His house befitting a king. It’s not about us—what ‘we need’ to be entertained with on Sunday morning—it will always be about HIM……I look through these videos of contemporary worship services and I am saddened. I am a retired musician that did both wholesome secular music and gospel. Honestly—some of these Sunday morning presentations are so far gone I doubt if anybody could be saved at them. The lake of fire is very real, people. Get back to the heart of worship——-re-interpreting whole sections of doctrine for the sake of Christian music sales is going to prevent some young people from ever genuinely coming to Christ through conviction and repentence. They’ll get a good music feel but never come to the cross. God help us.

      Good afternoon Valinda,

Like you I’m also saddened by what passes for worship. It’s not far fetched to say that contemporary Christian music is but a business, concerned with the bottom line instead of bringing glory to our God. It brings glory to the star behind the mic, money to the writers and publishers, is it any wonder that many Christian rock bands split up and the truth comes out! For instance the Newsboys fiasco?

When I think about the confusion of “worship” being all about music, it’s comforting to know Jesus did not elevate singing or instruments at all. One psalm after the last supper is referenced. That is all. If we didn’t have worship bands, sound enhancements and three Chris Tomlin songs every Sunday, would anyone really know how to worship the father as Christ did. Glad He didn’t sell the Sermon on the Mount in a 6 CD series and include the never before released psalm He was planning to sing on Passover. Too much emphasis on music and nearly nothing on sacrificial living, suffering for the sake of the Gospel and shutting your door and praying secret. Whatever the King of Glory hears in Heaven compared to what we think is awesome here, probable sounds like a first grade recital. The enemy is slick and wants to divert attention to ourselves and we call it worship. If we need to be led in worship let it be by Christ himself and our desire to minister to Him.

I have a suggestion for all. Get busy catching fish. Time is being wasted judging others. And time is short, my friends. Peace to you

    • Mark E. Gallagher August 26, 2017 at 6:35 pm #

I find that most who come and say do not judge, are guilty of following those being judged and take offence at the judgement of others because of guilt~!

I am not saying that is You Sister Susan, but one must take everything in Scripture, to account, and not just one commandment~! We must be Bereans and take the WHOLE council of GOD~!

Another commandment from our Lord Jesus Christ was to Love one another. There are those of us in the Body, who have been put here to judge and judge righteously as commanded by HIM. We are ALL told to do this:

“Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil.”
      Romans 16:17-19

Marking them means to judge them….. The word “mark,” used here is the Greek word “Spokeo” which means
      1. to look at, observe, contemplate
      2. to mark
      3. to fix one’s eyes upon, direct one’s attention to, any one
to look to, take heed to thyself

      In His Love, Mark

My wife and I are career missionaries, part of our work (making disciples) is to teach the truth and to warn fellow believers when erroneous teaching occurs. There is no shortage of erroneous teaching offered to believers. Knowing the truth is the responsibility of every believer and knowing error is also a responsibility of every believer. Some types of error is more obvious than others. Satan is most effective at introducing error when is sounds most like the truth.

We must be humble, as little children. Remember. It’s so simple! Thank You! Jesus is Lord

firstly, Kari is not a pastor. Women are not pastors. 1 & 2 Timothy and Titus and 1. Cor. 14

I haven’t read all the posts but one shot into my mind when I have read all the negative comments about Kari Jobe or Hillsong:

That sounds for me like jealousy. jealousy that Kari seems to reach more people to follow Jesus than the classic old preachers, than the conservative forms.

WHO are YOU to have the right to judge other people? WHAT is your qualification to assess that? Kari is very smart. She has a lot university degrees. More than every priest or pastor I know. And she is successful. Success always allures envy. And that is that what I read here. Not the sorrow about false teaching. That is not rateable because the scriptures are always something for interpretation. That’s why we have so many denominations and confessions. The biggest groups catholic, evangelic, evangelical, orthodox and interconfessional-charismatic. So noone here have the right nor the skill to declare a preaching of another pastoral educated person would be wrong – especially not because of interpretable DETAILS.

She doesn’t use the scriptures? What about her hit “The Blessing”? That’s straight from scripture. In short months the song was translated all over the earth in many many languages, e.g. Arabic, Hebrew, German, Polish, Russian, French, etc. I think she uses the scriptures very well and always. No song is written without reference.

Kari always sent a central message: Jesus loves you and Jesus wants you to love him and all other beings. There is NOTHING false in this message. So please stop judging others for their believes. We are not in the Middle Ages and not in the inquisition and not in Saudi-Arabia that someone can be judged by his belief. Throw away your sorrows, your fears and your hate and start to love and to be happy about everybody who brings the knowledge of Jesus in general to the people. Details don’t really matter. I love Kari. And I when she doesn’t really change her way and worship really a devil, when she believes in her heart to do the right thing and to worship Jesus I will always protect her from every criticism and denunciation of her work and vocation.

    God bless you all

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
